Chapter 12 - What's next to fluorine?

Akemi POV

"What should I do?" I cried while sitting on one of the chairs in the clubroom, our Science teacher reminded us that the memorization of the Periodic table will be performed next week, yet the only element I memorized was the first one, "Hydrogen".

"How long has she been in that state?" I heard Valerie-senpai speak as she was talking with Sakura-senpai.

"Ever since she arrived in the clubroom"

I felt hopeless, how am I even going to pass my chemistry subject? 

I felt someone tap my shoulder, I looked around and saw Emika-senpai wearing a worried expression.

"What's wrong Akemi-chan? Could you probably tell us about your problem? Maybe we could help. . ." she started speaking.

"Science problems" I replied, on the verge of crying, "Our teacher told us to memorize at least 30 elements in it, but I couldn't even memorize 5"

Emika laughed softly and grabbed my two shoulders, "You should have told me that a while ago, I have a distant relative who is a genius on that field"

I sat up straight and looked straight at Emika-senpai's cole-like eyes. "Really Senpai?"

She nodded. I have never felt this happy before, now I am saved from the horrible grasps of failure. 

I jumped from my seat and embraced Emika using all my strength to squeeze her, "I am so happy at this moment, there is nothing that could make  destroy my current mood"

I stopped the hug once I realized Emika-senpai was about to pass out. She got her phone out of her bag and started texting, a few minutes after waiting, a notification was heard from it.

"He said yes Akemi" Emika stated.

I was about to rejoice as she spoke that phrase, however---the pronoun she used, made me stop dead in my tracks.

  A Boy.

"E-Emika-senpai" I slowly turned and looked at her, "Is the relative you are referring to a--"

"Yup, he is a boy, the same age as me." she beamed.

I guess I forget to tell them, I am really shy around boys, except for the characters of course, since I quite know all of their personalities.  

I couldn't blurt that thought out. Emika-senpai is doing a lot for me even contacting a distant relative that lives far away, so it's not good when I complain.

"Where does he live anyways, senpai?" I asked.

"Tokyo," she said.

I sat down on the chair with my legs crossed and exclaimed, "Uwaah! That's really quite far senpai"

We were about to continue talking when Emika's phone vibrated again.

"A-Akemi-chan, I don't know how to say this, but he cannot travel here in Miyagi Prefecture because he has volleyball practice at 4, so when he takes the train, he will arrive here at exactly 6 in the evening." she talked in a frantic voice.

"Oh, I can just travel there!" I exclaimed, I also wanted to go to Tokyo.

"Wait-- really?" 

I nodded. She then typed it on her phone, immediately, she got a reply.

"He said to meet him at a cafe near his school" Emika read the text.

"Noted!"
