It had been weeks since Goku had been home. Functioning only for the sake of her children, she spent the rest of the time hiding in her room. Questioning if she ruined her relationship with her husband, she attempted to do her best at hiding her feelings and emotions from her children. She hadn't been successful with that.
Goten immediately saw through the act. It didn't help that Goku was gone for the time being. Gohan felt guilty about the whole ordeal considering nothing would have happened if he had come and skipped work.
Chi-Chi couldn't allow either child to know the reasoning behind Goku leaving and why he hadn't been around. This was her issue, and hers alone and having her children get into their affairs was inappropriate! She could never live with herself if she allowed them to take on her problems.
---
Setting up the dinner table, the petite wife proceeded to whip up enough for the three of them, including her husband. It was a habit she couldn't stop, nor did she want to.
"Goten, will ya help me set the table. I'm gonna take out the fish I have in the oven."
Quirking a brow, Goten argues, "Mama, but dad is outside...."
Eyes widening, she quickly takes out the fish and places it on the table. Hurrying outside, she scans the yard for her beloved - nothing. "Goten! I don't see yer father anywhere!"
Giggling, Goten sticks his tongue out. "His energy is close! You can't sense ki, but he's on his way back! He'll find you or ya'll find him! Bye!" Shutting the door, he hastily locks it. He wasn't letting his parents behave in such a manner when he could obviously tell that something was up!
Rushing to the door, the mother struggles to push it open. Didn't he understand that dinner was going to go cold if he wouldn't let her in?! "GOTEN! OPEN THE DOOR RIGHT NOW!"
"No!" He yells, pulling the shades to the side to meet her eyes.
"Goten! Open it! This ain't appropriate!"
"I don't care! I don't like seein' ya an' dad fight!"
Instantly freezing, she lets go of the doorknob. Revolving around, she wanders away from the house. She couldn't live with knowing that she was adding stress to the life of her youngest. Children were so much brighter than people made them out to be, then she wasn't aware if she was the reason for most of her baby's problems in life currently.
---
Leaving their yard hours ago, the woman drags her feet through the wilderness. If Goku had to be near, it would be in the heart of nature. Then what was to say that he wasn't in the sky, in the other direction, who knew precisely where he went...no one for sure. Perhaps sensing ki was something she should have familiarized herself in, then she hadn't ever cared to learn all their tricks.
Having little strength, she settles next to where it appeared she had been for hours upon end. She couldn't help that she had been treading the terrain for what felt like centuries and had not come upon her husband for what felt like millenniums. She missed him terribly, and it was all due to her selfish actions that he wasn't here with her now.
Laying on the bare forest floor, she rests her head. Tears escaping her eyes, she quietly weeps to herself. Hopefully, the life here wouldn't have to bear too much with her sorrow and dread listening to the sounds of her sobs.
----
Gradually gliding down toward their front door, Goku scratches his head. There was something peculiar about the energy coming from their small home. Raising his fingers, he holds them at his brow. He was going to get to the bottom of this whether or not it took him all night.
