I walk up the stairs to get to my next class, seeing Pony pass by. I sped up my walking a bit, and went to go say hi to him. "Hi Pony," I said over the loudness in the hallway. Instead of a response back, I see him keep talking to the person he is next to. As I inch closer, I see who he is talking to.
Cherry Valance
Cherry hated me with all of her guts. I had no idea why. I never even spoke to her, but whenever she saw me, she would look at my with judgy eyes and snicker. I would worry about how I look for the rest of the day. It's amazing how the way one person sees you can affect your whole day.
When I looked closer, I saw Pony laughing and smiling while Cherry snuck a glance at me. She continued to smirk and look back at Pony, knowing this was hurting me. I decided to bury my feelings deep inside me and go on with my day.
The day was finally over, and I started walking home without waiting for Pony. I saw Pony down the hallway, but he didn't see me because he was still to caught up talking to Cherry. I scoffed and sped up to get home quicker. I decided to go to my friend, Isabel's house instead because I knew that Pony would come to my house looking for me.
Since my house was on the way, I stopped to tell my mom where I was going and pack some clothes just in case I decided to stay over. I decided to ride my bike because I would get there faster. Soon, I left and started riding to Isabel's house.
Isabel wasn't a soc, but she wasn't a greaser either. She lived in the middle of both towns. We both just moved here and had a bunch of things in common, so we became friends really quickly.
As I entered the area where the middle-class families lived, I saw a mustang start to slow down by me. I didn't think anything of it and kept riding my bike to Isabel's house. Once they started cat-calling me, that was when I turned around to look at them. They were socs, and I have heard some bad things from Pony and Johnny especially about them. That was when the worry started to set in.
The socs came out of the car and started walking quickly towards me. I backed away slowly. "Help!" I screamed, "Please somebody help!" That just seemed to make them more angry. I saw one pull out a switch-blade out of their pocket and point it at me.
"You better shut the hell up right now young lady," he said threateningly. I gulped. The one day I didn't walk home with Pony.
"Get away from me!" I screeched. I tried to run away but I was pulled back and I knew I was about to get hurt. "I told you to shut the hell up," he started. "Now you deserve a punishment" He immediately pressed the cold knife to my throat, a sharp, stinging pain rippling through my neck. I tear slipped down my cheek, and I felt some blood dripping down my neck. The wind blowing on my cut made me hiss in pain, me getting a slap by one of the socs. I yelped in pain, and that was when they all started beating me up.
It was already nighttime so nobody was going to see me being jumped. "Lauren?" I heard. "Help," I said as loud as I could, that not being very much since I was about to pass out from the pain. This caused them to become mad and beat me up even more. The last thing I knew happened before everything went black was hearing the footsteps of the socs running away.

I woke up to the feeling of something cold on my forehead. I slowly flutter my eyes open and see Pony and Darry standing over me. I just now notice the pressure and stinging on my neck. "Darry, Darry, she's awake," Pony tells him, being quiet since he knows I just woke up. "Perfect timing. I just finished cleaning her up," I heard.
