Continuing on in Dan's POV..
By the time I got back to the tour bus, the sun had set and the only light on the entire street was the lights in the bus shining through the windows. I tried to sneak into the bus because I didn't really feel like talking to anyone but Kyle right now and most people didn't ever seem to understand that. Well, I guess I couldn't blame them. It's not like I had a sign that said "Don't talk to me unless you're Kyle Simmons" or something.
My plan to try to go unnoticed failed once I opened the door to see Frederik and Sebastian of Grizfolk talking to Kyle and Will in the kitchen area. "Dammit," I cursed under my breath which turned out to be louder than I thought since they all looked over to me. "I.. I mean.. Hey guys?"
"About time you're back," Kyle sassed and Will elbowed his side while mumbling something that I couldn't hear to Kyle. "Ow! I was only joking, Will." He elbowed him back with a childish smirk to get even then walked over to me with a sudden expression of seriousness. "I know it wasn't you who said all of that stuff earlier. Well, it was you but you were reading off of a script basically. Ralph called me a bit ago, said he just got off the phone with you."
"So he was fine with all of this," I thought, smiling to myself as I did so. It was reassuring knowing that your best friend approved of you loving the person you loved even when other people didn't. "Listen, about that.... Kyle, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean any of that, I swear. They just told me that if I didn't say-"
I was suddenly cut off by a pair of lips crashing against my own. His lips. I kissed him back while at the same time, reaching my hands up to place them against his cheeks. Soon after, we pulled back slightly to take a breath and Kyle used it as an opportunity to speak. "Don't apologize, babe. It isn't your fault and I shouldn't went after you when you left. I knew something was up but I guess.." He paused for a moment and furrowed his eyebrows together while looking at the flooring below us. "I guess I just didn't want to go and find out that you meant what you said."
I frowned slightly while caressing his cheeks with my thumbs softly. I noticed his gaze lift from the floor to look up at me, instantly making me smile. "I wouldn't ever say that, alright? I promise that I won't ever let them tell me to-"
"I'm hungry. Can we stop being cheesy for like ten minutes and go get something to eat?" Will joked and the two members of Grizfolk that were in the room nodded in agreement. "Looks like Dan and Kyle are outnumbered. I'm sure you found a couple fast food places while you were walking around, Dan. Lead the way."
I looked away from them and back to Kyle to ask for approval. If I went, I wanted him to go with me but I would totally understand if he just wanted the both of us to stay on the bus. It had been a long week. Kyle stepped away from me and looked at the others. "Yeah. C'mon guys, let's go."
The other guys stepped outside and Kyle followed, taking ahold of my hand so I would walk next to him. I remembered that there was a pizzeria not too far from where the bus was so that's where I ended up leading them. I hope they're in a pizza kind of mood.
The others, minus Kyle, started muttering comments about how good it smelled once we reached the building but I kept my focus on Kyle. Though eventually, Will spoke up which made me turn to look at him. "So are we going to go inside or do we just plan on standing here and smelling it all day?"
"You guys go on in, I need to talk to Dan about something." The others nodded slowly and walked in while I turned to look at Kyle. What did he want to talk to me about? He wasn't going to break up with me, was he? I didn't think he would but he might've really thought things through on the walk here. "I'm not breaking up with you, stop worrying. I just.. erm.. wanted to give you something." He reached a hand into one of his pockets and pulled out a small box then handed it to me. "Go ahead and open it."
I stepped a bit closer to the window of the pizzeria so I could see a bit better in the light and opened up the box. There was a silver ring inside and I automatically looked up at Kyle. "I'm not proposing, I swear. If I were to propose to you, it'd be in a place a lot more romantic than the doorstep of a pizzeria," he rambled and let out a small, nervous laugh. "It's um.. a promise ring. I just wanted to get you something that will help you remember that no matter how hard people try, I'll never let them get in between us. I just.. I love.. I mean.. I really care about you a lot and if you think this is really lame, then I'm sorry."
I turned my gaze back down to the ring again then back to Kyle. I don't care if anyone else thought it was "too early" to say the phrase because at this point, I knew exactly how I felt. "Kyle," I said softly and watched as he slowly lifted his eyes to meet mine. "I'm in love with you."
