I guess I must've fallen asleep while watching whatever movie was on TV with Dan because when I opened my eyes, it was nearly ten in the morning and the movie was over. Dan wasn't next to me on the bed so I glanced around the room, furrowing my eyebrows in concern when I couldn't find him. "Dan..?"
"Dammit, you're awake." Dan laughed and peeked his head from out of the kitchen doorway to look at me. "I was going to make you breakfast in bed but somebody had to wake up earlier than I thought he would."
"You're cooking?" I asked with an eyebrow raised and continued on teasingly, "and you haven't burned down the entire hotel?"
"Don't be an ass." Dan frowned but I could see him trying his best to hold back a smile. He pranced over to the bed and practically jumped into my arms, knocking me over so that my back was now pressed against the bed. "I love you."
I looked up at him and I couldn't help but smile. His face was about an inch away from my own and I could feel his hair brushing against my forehead. I quickly muttered "I love you too" before we connected lips. He placed his hands against my chest as we kissed and I placed mine on his sides. His shirt was raised up slightly so they ended up resting against his skin rather than fabric.
My hands must've been cold because the touch caused him to gasp slightly which I took advantage of by sliding my tongue into his mouth. He responded immediately and pulled himself up closer to me, trying to eliminate any space in between us. My lips soon left his and traveled down to his jaw, lightly biting and sucking as I made my way down to his neck to leave marks. Marks that would show everyone else that he was mine and only mine.
We both continued to stay caught up in the moment until a burning smell filled the room. I quickly pulled my lips from his neck and sniffed the air again to make sure of what I had smelled before. "Dan? What's that smell?"
"I.. Erm.. Be right back?" Dan shot me a worried glance before climbing off of me in what seemed to be record speed and scrambling towards the kitchen. I heard him mutter a couple swear words under his breath and cough at all the smoke that had filled the small room.
I sighed once deciding that I should probably get up and figure out what had caused the smoke. I stepped into the kitchen and raised an eyebrow slightly once I saw Dan giving me a nervous smile. "Would you care to explain what the hell happened in here? It smells awful."
Dan emptied something from a pan into the trash and I wrinkled my nose once the smell of smoke filled the air I was trying to breath. "Well, you see. That's kind of a funny story," he said quietly while rubbing the back of his neck with his hand. "I.. I guess I figured that I could leave the pancake on the skillet for a couple minutes to cook. I didn't think that it would burn."
Of course that was what it was. I couldn't help but laugh which seemed to help him feel a bit more relieved knowing that I wasn't angry. "You have to keep watching them, you can't just come out into the main room to have a make out sesson with your boyfriend expecting the pancakes to be alright."
"I was coming over to you to say that I loved you, not for a make out session so technically this is your fault," he argued, emphasizing the word your. "I tried but oh well. We had donuts this morning anyway, that's good enough."
"You know what? I'm going to eat one anyway." I reached over to a small plate that was sitting on the counter. The plate held a couple of pancakes that were done already, some looking a bit overdone and others looking slightly underdone. There did happen to be one that looked perfectly cooked though.
"Er...Kyle..I don't think that would be the best idea." Dan dumped the pancake batter into the trash and set the dirty dishes in the sink before turning to me, looking concerned. "Let's just go out to eat and get pancakes if you're hungry."
"Nope. I'm going to eat the food you cooked for me, babe." I smiled slightly and grabbed the preciously mentioned 'perfect pancake'. Once I could fully taste it, I almost spit it out but I quickly swallowed it before I could. "Mm..tastes delicious."
"I just realized I put sugar in the batter instead of flour." Dan mumbled while turning off the stove top. "I decided to try and make homemade pancake batter for once but I guess it didn't turn out too well. I think I'll just stick to the store bought kind until I learn to read instructions better."
"How do you accidentally put sugar in it instead of flour?" I asked, trying my best to hold back laughter. His face started to redden so I took a step closer to him and wrapped my arms around him tightly. "Hey, no. Don't be embarrassed. Everyone makes a mistake every once in a while and maybe they aren't as bad as this one, but they're still a mistake." I teased and placed a soft kiss on his forehead. "Someday we'll be settled down in a nice, big house and I'll be expecting you to cook for me."
Dan rolled his eyes and looked up at me, practically grinning at this point. "Orrr maybe you could cook for me. You know, I saw a tweet by 'you' a couple days ago talking about how you cooked dinner for Janna. Maybe someday you'll love me enough to cook me dinner."
"I don't think I'll ever love somebody as much as I love her." I joked and let go of him. "Now, do you want to go somewhere right now? Are you hungry? We could go out to eat at a restaurant then go shopping at a couple music stores."
Dan nodded excitedly and grabbed ahold of my hand to attempt to pull me towards the door which didn't work out too well. I didn't move an inch. "C'mon, Ky. I want to take you out on a date. It could be a brunch date or something along those lines."
"Ah ah ah. Nope, I want to be the one to take you out on dates. I want to spoil you." I pulled him back towards me and lightly placed a hand on his cheek. "Let me pay for everything. I'll always buy you whatever you'd like."
Dan stood there silently for a minute as a grin slowly began to form on his face. "You've liked me for a while, haven't you? We went out to eat with Woody and Will a bunch and you always paid for my meal. I never knew why, you just told me I'd figure it all out someday."
"Took you long enough, didn't it?" I winked and moved past him, heading to the door. "Now let's go, love. I'm starving."
