CHAPTER 16

JENNIE KIM POV

*Knock knock

I knocked on the door.

*Knock knock

Once again, I knocked louder on his door now. But there was no sound from inside. No footsteps, nothing. Silent. Is he really in there?

*Knock knock knock

I tried again. But still, nothing. Maybe Jisoo was wrong. Maybe it was the sound of the door closing that I heard this morning because he came out. It wasn't what she thought that it was when he came back.

After waiting for a while, and since there was still no sign of the door opening, I returned to my unit and decided to go to my room to open the hole behind the small painting. Who knows after I open it, I can hear a little voice inside to make sure that he isn't there. Because after all our apartment is soundproof and we can't hear the sound inside. Except for the sound of the door, of course.

After the plug of the small hole was unplugged, I put my ear right where the hole was and tried to hear the sound inside. I knew behind the wall of my room was his room according to the blueprint that Jisoo had shown me when I was looking for Manoban's place.

I listened carefully, but it seemed like he wasn't there. Just before I pulled my ear out, I heard something. So I pressed my ear against the hole even harder.

The voice sounded very faint. Like the sound of a blanket.

"Manoban!" I decided to knock on our bedroom wall and called him. I put my ear back against the hole in the wall and tried to hear the slightest sound.

And yes, I heard something! It's not crystal clear, but I'm sure it's the sound of the blanket. So he is inside. Immediately, after closing the hole again, I got out and headed to his apartment door, and knocked again. This time with more conviction and force.

"Manoban! Open the door!" I shouted because the door wouldn't open either. I knocked several times but the door didn't budge.

With furrowed brows and blood starting to rise to my head, I returned to my room, to the hole.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

I knocked loudly on the wall of my room that connected his room while shouting, "Manoban! I know you're in there! I can hear you moving! Quickly open that damn door before I break it down!"

After speaking, I put my ear to the hole and listened again to the noise of the blanket which was louder than before.
