Saying our goodbyes to our family members at the airport was extremely difficult. Of course we would see them again on holidays and celebrations, yet it felt like I was being torn in two, in the sense of wanting to stay with my family and go off and explore what's out there.
I look up to see my Mum, tears spilling down her face, holding a tissue to her chest, looking at me with sadness covering every inch of her face.
"Goodbye my darling, I love you, I'll see you soon. Maybe we will all come out and visit you once you've set in properly, yeah ?" she barely gets out.
"Mum, we will see each other-" I start, laughing gently, although it doesn't stop the tears fighting their way to spill from my eyes. "- yeah that will be nice, Id really love that. I'm gonna miss you so much Mum. I mean like who's going to be there when I get in trouble and need someone to talk me out of it? Who's going to be there to shout at me when I leave my shoes and coats around the house? Who's going to be there when I need a motherly hug and love? I love you Mum!" I sob into my mothers shirt as we hug.
We release from our hold. I look up to my Dad to see he has watery eyes. Now I've seen my Dad have watery eyes once before, but never actually cry.
"You alright Dad?"
"Yeah just really emotional, it's hard for me Dad, you know?"
"Yes but, it's something you have to do in your life. Okay?"
"Okay. I'm gonna miss you Daddy"
"I'm gonna miss you too baby girl, love you minimoo"
"Love you too"
After that I just collapse into my fathers arms. We stay like that for a while. Then after we release from my last hug, for a while, and look at him seeing a few tears roll down his face. He quickly wipes them away, smiling, giving me a little punch with his fist-not hard but just right. Me and my Dad always, since I can remember, play fight to 'toughen' me up-it's worked. Instantly, I go into a boxers stance and playfully jab my father back on his arm, before returning back to normal and saying once again "Love you" the funny and sad thing was we said it at the same time.
I turn to my fathers left to see my brother.
"I'll miss you, you know." he says, both hands in his pocket, rocking back and forth on his heels.
"Same, just like come visit yeah? When ever you can."
"Obviously, I ain't gonna let my little sister move to a different country that has amazing weather and not go see her!" He jokes, making me laugh lightly.
"Sure, anytime."
"I never thought you could do it you know? That teenage dream of yours to move to Australia and live your life has now come true, I'm proud of you."
"Thank you so much it feels surreal." I smile thinking about my future. Although my smile soon fades, coming back to reality, realising that I'm leaving my family behind.
"Hey!" He says placing his hand on my shoulder "Think of it like toy story 3. Andy grew up he had to leave Woody, Buzz, Jessie... everyone behind because they were keeping him from growing up and we can't do that to you, yeah?"
"Oh my days did you really just refer this to toy story?" I laugh through my tears.
Without warning my brother snatches me into a hug, it short and brief, but it's all I need. Me and my brother have never had a relationship, where we hug and talk about our feelings together, so just a hug like that was all I need, and I love it.
"Love you mouldy"
"Love you too" I laugh.
And last but not least, I bend down to be face to face to Blake, who's 5 years old.
"Hi baby, I'm going now and I love you okay? You'll come and see me soon and we can go to the beach because the weather will be nice there, yeah? And then I'll be back for Christmas with your presents and I'll make sure they are amazing just for you." I earn a precious giggle from little man.
"Okay. I love you."
"I love you too little man." I kiss him and hug him tightly.
"Last call for flight 1503" I hear.
I stand up and see that the girls are finishing their goodbyes too and the boys standing awkwardly over in the corner, watching the scenes before them. I say a last goodbye to everyone before turning my back and walking over to the boys and girls who are about to go through the door to get to the gate area. Ashton waits for me at the end, holding his hand out for me. I grab his hand intertwining our fingers.
I walk through the gate and in the distance I hear Blake shout "Bye! I love you !!!!" This made me want to cry harder, but I had to bite my lip, to control myself.
I turn around and see my family waving at me. Turning around could of been the worst thing I could of done.
