Who's that in the back?

On the run (Part 2)

I crept through the forest, keeping close to the tree line next to the road, keeping any eyes out for any cars going past. But at this hour it would be pointless, the only time cars come through is around lunch time, and it was well past then. Maybe around 6 o'clock.

My breath was heavy and my feet were weak. "How long until I get outta here?" I asked myself.

I sat down for a short break, I had been walking for a few hours and this would be my first break.

"I want some fruit, and musli." I searched my pack and found some plums and a bar. It reminded me of school, when I'd be sitting in class at break and then have plums and a bar since I didnt usually bring food to school.

"Suna.." I sighed, he was the one to bring me the food, even if it were small, he'd always try to cheer me up and get me strong 'just like me' he'd say.

What a joke. I quietly ate and put the rubbish in my pack so I'd leave no traces behind. I stood up determinedly and caught sight of a car, I was too excited to see it that I didnt even realise which one it was.

I ran out to the road waving my arms and shouting. When the car stopped, it was then I realised what I had done. Suna walked out from the car door and come towards me.

"Damn..I must've unconsciously noticed it was his car..." I quietly wailed to myself.

"Where have you been!?" He yelled making his way over faster and faster.

I took the opportunity to run while I could. I didn't wanna wait any longer. "Get back here!" He yelled after me.

I didnt listen. I was deaf to his pleads, and only listening to my own. 'Get out of here. You know this place better than you do.' I thought desperately to myself.

I heard a river in the distance, so I ran towards the sound of gushing water.

"I know where you're going!" Suna yelled, not far behind me. I ditched my backpack and sprinted towards the river, not taking any chances. Not now.

I jumped into the river, it was around mid-calf height. But it was covered in algae, thick algae.

"Damn it. I need to watch my step." I told myself, picking where to tread carefully. "No need to! You wont be going anywhere." Suna said on the edge of the bank.

I freaked. I never realised how close he was to me, only about 3 meters now. I booked it, not wanted to go back anywhere with him. I made it 1 rock, 2 rock and 3 rock, only 4 more to go. The other side was in sight, so close.

4 rock, 5 rock, 6 rock...then slip.

That damn algae.
