Hogwarts sixth year
1971
-"You're late miss Beckett"
Slughorn acknowledged Daisy as she sauntered into the class room carelessly, ten minutes later than she should have been there. Once she had left Remus she found mrs Norris on her own and decided to see if she was in a good mood, she was indeed and even let Daisy stroke her for once! It was very much a big shock.
"I'm not late sir, you're all just incredibly early" Daisy told the potions teacher, matter-of-factly. The class of sixth years laughing as she crossed her arms and stuck out her hip sassily.
"Ah yes, my apologies miss Beckett. I'll be sure to fit your schedule next time" Slughorn laughed, used to her sassy replies. He loved her wit and clever come backs, a very entertaining student she was.
"Thanks sluggy, very much appreciated" she went up to him and offered a fist bump to which he gave her one back, slightly missing her fist but hey, atleast he tried.
"You're welcome dear"
Potions wasn't one of her favourite classes but Slughorn as a teacher made it bearable, he was unintentionally funny and gave her a right good laugh. She just hoped she could survive two hours of him.
"Oh look, everyone is already seated. Lovely" she turned to look at the class only to find everyone already sat down together, she pulled a face seeing some students with others she wouldn't expect them to sit next to. They normally got to choose their own seats.
"Don't worry dear, I have made a seating plan again this year" ah, that was why, Daisy thought to herself.
"Bollocks" she cursed quietly and she looked around in more depth and saw the only free seat next to a person she didn't know whether she was blessed or cursed for sitting next to.
"Please will you go and take a seat next to miss Black" Professor Slughorn instructed her, pointing towards the back corner where Andromeda Black was sat in her usual straight posture, uniform clean and tidy, all buttons of her shirt done up and tie sat perfectly under her collar. Much different to Daisy's less put together uniform, her top button undone and Hufflepuff tie hanging loosely from her neck.
Why was she always put with people who made her look like someone who didn't care about their appearance?
"Alright" she put on a grin as she made her way to the back of the classroom, plonking down onto the stool that was next to Andromeda's.
"Hello Andy Pandy" she greeted with a smirk, knowing that the Black girl would have no idea about what the reference was.
Andromeda straightened as she sat down next to her, a sense of nervousness filling her as Daisys shoulder touched her own. She wouldn't lie and say Daisy didn't intimidate her in the slightest, she was so carefree and not to mention naturally beautiful, it was hard not to find herself jealous of the obviously lovely life she lived, so peaceful and stressless, not being held down by strings of harsh family members and traditions.
"Pardon me, but It's Andromeda" she said politely, thinking that Daisy had actually misinterpreted what her name was, after all her sisters were heard calling her Andy sometimes, put Pandy was in to part of her name.
"Is it?" Daisy faked confusion, head tilting whilst she stopped herself from sniggering, her lips quirking upwards.
"You said it differently on purpose" Andromeda felt a little bit silly as Daisy laughed, she had genuinely thought that Daisy had thought her name was something else.
"Maybe" she shrugged humorously, taking out her quills and equipment from her bag, placing them onto the table.
"Of course you did, you got me there. I thought you may have forgotten my name" she found herself laughing aswell, not used to having someone joke with her that wasn't her that wasn't her family, no one else would dare in fear of saying the wrong thing.
