Hogwarts 6th year
1971
-The warm sun beamed through the window, letting in golden rays of bright light, waking the two girls in the queen sized bed up from their deep slumbers. It was a surprisingly quiet morning, no annoying chirping from the birds who would normally linger outside the window, pecking and pecking until it would annoy them so much they had no choice but to get up. The girls were convinced the mother of the household had charmed them to act like an alarm clock, they always seemed to get the timings right.
"Shut that bastard curtain" Daisy groaned, tugging the duvet over her eyes to stop the light disrupting her precious beauty sleep. Her silky brown hair was draped over the pillows, in a messy manner; her slightly rounded cheeks smushed against the puffy fabric as she let out a whine of distaste.
"It's your curtain, you close it" the girl next to her groaned, dramatically throwing an arm over her body and snuggling into her back.
"Uh, it's your curtain Rue. We're in your house" Daisy reminded the girl behind her, turning around with an amused smile on her lips.
"Oh yeah" Rue snorted, meeting Daisys eyes and letting out a loud laugh, the two girls falling into a fit of giggles over absolutely nothing remotely hilarious.
Rue Hallows and Daisy Beckett were best friends, you'd never catch one without the other and they were as close as siblings, practically inseparable. They'd been friends since sitting on the Hogwarts express together in first year, a shy introvert eleven year old finding an ounce of courage to ask a loud extrovert of the same age if they could share a compartment and from then on they became thicker than thieves. It only became better when they were sorted into the same house.
Rue was a beautiful girl with one of the sweetest personalities. She was never really outgoing or talkative but she made an exception to few people; that being her family and close friends for the most part.
"Rise and shine, lovelies" before Rue could get up and close her curtains, a young woman walked in and opened them fully emitting louder groans from the two teens in the bed.
"Morning Mrs Hallows" Daisy rubbed her eyes and sat up, greeting the mother of Rue, that walked in with her signature glowing smile. Tamina Hallows was the sun if it could be a person, she was the most selfless and loving woman you'd ever meet, she always put others before herself and wouldn't hesitate to make her home yours. She had Rue quite young, at the age of eighteen to be exact which had her thrown out by her own parents but that only encouraged her to be the best mother she could for her child and children who entered her life. She practically became Daisy's wizarding world mother, she taught Daisy everything she needed to know about the wizarding world and bought her all the supplies she could ever need.
The Beckett girl had spent the last week of her summer holidays with the Hallows family, she'd done in every year since second year and it was practically traditional now. Mr and Mrs Hallows took her in as if she was their own, they were always overjoyed to have her.
The Hallows were a half blooded family, Mr Hallows being a muggle and Mrs Hallows being a witch. They were quite a wealthy family, much different to her own. They lived in a large town house in the middle of London, it was spacious and airy decorated with the finest gold decorations and beautiful tapestries; she, however, lived in a small house in Manchester with her muggle parents, they were alright and she loved them to pieces but they could never truly understand magic no matter how hard they tried, or even just her generally for that matter, but they were her parents and she was just thankful they kept a roof over her head and gave her some love here and there.
It's why she always arrived back at school with Rue, her parents were queasy on getting themselves involved further than needed knowledge to 'support' their daughter.
"Mrs Hallows? My darling, haven't we gone over that it makes me feel old. I am only in my thirties" the women cocked her hip and crossed her arms, her voice holding that of playfulness.
"Mum, it's too early. G'way" Rue muffled out from under the covers, trying to hide from the fact that she had to get up.
"Oh no you don't, Little miss. You have to get to the platform in two hours, up now" Tamina pulled out her wand and flicked it in the direction of the duvet, making the orange coloured comforter fly up from off of the two teens bodies and into the air, leaving Rue in a position that looked like a cat trying to catch a ball of wool on its back.
"C'mon Rue, if we get there early we might catch Thurman on the train" Rue was up and ready to go at that, her mother and best friend laughing at how quickly she jumped up off of the bed. Her and Thurman had started dating last year, he was a Gryffindor boy who was absolutely infatuated with her from the day he met her, one may say love at first sight. He chased her around for years, although Rue couldn't quite comprehend that someone would actually like her so she always turned him down, thinking it was a Joke. It was only until he truly confessed his feelings that she had finally gave him a chance and let him in.
"Thurman is sitting with us, so don't you two be having your banter" Rue gave her best friend a stern glance to which she held her hands up in surrender, bumping hips with Mrs Hallows as she walked to the bathroom.
"It's not my fault you're boyfriends personality is based off of mine" the mother in the room held back a chuckle at Daisy's statement, it was true that Thurman and Daisy were on eachothers maturity level, they were always cracking jokes with eachother and getting into trouble.
"I could have sworn Hufflepuffs weren't this troublesome when I was at Hogwarts" Tamina let out a fond laugh whilst walking away towards the kitchen in order to help her husband make breakfast. She had been a Ravenclaw herself, had a dream of working with magical beasts and creatures until she fell for a muggle man who captured her heart from when she first laid eyes on him.
"We aren't , Daisy is just..Daisy"
"Oi! That better not be an insult!"
