Charlotte's POV

Charlotte entered the giant archway of the shopping mall. People shuffled left and right with their kids in tow. Some stopped to gaze longingly at the items displayed in the glass cases outside stores while others blatantly disregard them, already holding shopping bags of their own. What would John like? She pondered, scanning the area.

Charlotte decided to stop at a guitar shop and take a peek at the instruments and other various items pertaining to music. Of course, by the entrance, there was a large poster of the Beatles.

They were everywhere, even in places that have no relation to them. Such as at a dentist's office or a soda machine. She felt her heart swell with pride and she sauntered into the outlet, seeing a giant booth filled with Beatle records. It showcased famous albums such as With The Beatles, Please Please Me, and A Hard Day's Night, it also included their new documentary The Beatles' Story.

Charlotte approached the cashier and smiled politely.

"I have a friend I'd like to buy a guitar for, but I don't know much about instruments and things," Charlotte requested.

"Hmmm what's your friend's style of music?" The man behind the counter asked.

So in response to the employee's question, she retrieved a picture of John and placed it on the table, sliding it towards him.

"That's your friend?" He asked, astonished.

"Yup, I overheard him saying he wanted a Rickenbacker 325/12c64," Charlotte recalled.

"Oh, okay, well those will be over here," The man lead her away from the counter and to the back of the store where the twelve strings hung on the wall.

"Here is the guitar yer talking about," He reached up and carefully removed it from the stand.

Its body was black and it had a white pickguard with three pickups, it looked very stylish.

"That's the one he wants?" She asked, examining it.

"According to your description, yes,"

"Great, how much does it cost?"

"That will ring up to one-hundred pounds, it also includes a guitar case (£100 pounds in 1964 is £1,783.26 pounds today aka $2455.67 in USD [I have an entire algorithm to determine exactly how much something costs in 1964 😂]),"

Charlotte was impulsive and was known to take risky decisions without thinking them through. So she said yes before she could even formulate a second thought in her mind.

The cashier nodded and rung her up and she handed him the money that was due. She was about to waltz out of the store when the Beatles' records booth caught her attention again. Charlotte picked up A Hard Day's Night and set it down on the counter in front of the man.

"I'd like to buy this too,"

"Okay, that will be two pounds,"

She dropped the money into his open palm and dashed out of the store with the guitar case (the instrument was tucked away inside) and the record in hand. Before she left the mall, she stopped inside Hallmark to fetch a roll of wrapping paper for John's gift.
