Charlotte's POV
Charlotte was pregnant. The truth hadn't set in yet and the mere thought of a human being growing inside of her both frightened and excited her. It had only been a little more than a week since she took the tests. The only people who knew about her pregnancy were John and Charlotte, and she intended on that secret remaining only between those three people until she couldn't hide it any longer. She kept subconsciously looking at her stomach like it was a new part of her like she had just grown one recently.
John visited her daily, bringing along his guitar and other things he could do with her. But he was mostly there for company, seeing as Isabel would sleep in extremely late and go out shopping or something.
Today, John had brought his guitar and was sitting in front of her on the floor, singing her songs. Charlotte loved his voice, it was so smooth, yet it had a certain acerbic undertone that she adored. He didn't like his voice and he thought it didn't sound good, but every time he would say something like that, she would grab his face and tell him about how beautiful his voice is.
"If I fell in love with you, would you promise to be true," John sang, strumming chords.
"And help me, understand," She joined in, smiling at him.
"'Cause I've been in love before, and I found that love was more," He said after her.
"Than just, holding hands," They sang together in sync, gazing into each other's eyes.
Isabel opened the front door and barreled into the apartment, throwing her coat onto the rack and slipping off her shoes. John snapped out of the daze and continued singing, ignoring the happy feeling blooming inside of him. She rolled her shoulders as she walked into the living room, jumping when she saw the two sitting on the floor.
"Oh, hey guys," Isabel vanished down the hall and into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her.
"Oh, uhm, I should really go now," He mumbled awkwardly, gathering his things.
"Really? Okay then," Charlotte lowered her head in disappointment.
"Bye," John hugged her before leaving the flat.
She sighed, her mood now gloomy, so she decided to call someone; Cynthia.
"Hey, Cyn," Charlotte greeted the woman, wedging the phone between her jaw and her collarbone as she washed the dishes in the sink.
"Hey, darling! How are you?" Cynthia's friendly voice said.
"I'm not doing so well," She placed a plate in the dish drain. "Can I tell and ask you something?"
"Of course!,"
"I'm pregnant," Charlotte started. "and I'm scared because I don't know what to do. So I came to you because you're a mother and I wanted to ask you if you could help me by teaching me stuff about being a mother, because I have no idea what I got myself into,"
