Post dinner when Palash was leaving, Kiaan suddenly offered to come with him till his house...which was not too far from the venue. There was something that was making him restless. He could not understand what it was. But the party was suffocating him and he needed to be out for some fresh air.
" Palash, I'll come with you. I could do with some fresh air," he told Palash.
Palash rose his eyebows as he said, "You sure? It's your party. People might be wanting to meet you."
" I have had of people through out the evening."
" Everything okay with you, Kiaan?"
Kiaan shut his eyes. No. Everything was not okay. He could not explain what was not okay. But he just felt it was not.
" I don't know," he said with a distant look,"My stomach seems to be in knots and I am feeling very anxious. I need to be calmed."
"Okay. Let's go. I think a walk might do you good," said Palash.
But just as they were moving out, Druv, " Ja kaha raha hai, be?" He asked as he spooned in the last slice of blueberry cheesecake inside his mouth.
"Palash is going home. So, I am tagging with him for fresh air," Said Kiaan.
" Yaha kya hawa ki kami hai?" He asked as he set his plate aside,"Chal main bhi ata hoon."
" Nahi hawa ki kami nahi....but air here us full of fart smell, especially after dinner," joked Palash.
All three boys yakked at this rather 'flavourful' joke.( Boys and their uncouth fart jokes I tell you!) Then Dhruv just turned towards Arif, Vaibhav, Partha and Nyasa and said, "Oye, come outside. We are taking a walk outside for pheres,( fresh) bayu."
" Bayu!," said Palash and started laughing, " pheres pet ka bayu."
Both the boys tittered.
Kiaan did not look amused, " Keep it low, guys. We don't want some special specimens coming with us."
It did not strike Druv of this ordeal which followed Kiaan everywhere. "Sorry," said Druv biting his tongue. But the damage was done.
Ritu heard Druv and immediately informed Amrita. Just as they were going out, Amrita and Ritu came up and said, " We too want to come with you guys. We could do with an after dinner walk."
Kiaan stamped his feet irritably. "Don't you have to go home? It's getting late."
" Not immediately," said Amrita suggestively biting her lips.
He turned towards Dhuv angrily and said, "Seems like you really wanted the pheres pet ki bayu to tag along."
Dhuv looked guilty. " Sorry," he repeated.
Saina too heard them and tagged along. Though Kiaan was not looking for anyone else he did not object to Saina's presence . Kiaan and Saina were fast friends in his last school. Their parents were family friends. So, on many fam get togs she was his only option for hanging out as there were no one else in their age group. So, he grew to like her as a friend. But today she seemed little too clingy. It suprised him the way she was acting like some possessive girl friend. He needed his rather carefree friends of Lorian High right now. Not Saina.
But as they began walking the door swung open and Jessica ran after them calling Amrita and Ritu. They both looked at each other exchanging irritated looks and then turned towards her with a forced smile.
" Where are you guys going?" She asked looking at them and then prying an expectant glance at Kiaan. She then giggled looking at Amrita and came and stood with them. Kiaan had spoken nicely to her at the party and that had given Jessica hope. The fact was Kiaan was nice to everyone at the party as he was the host. He did not even remember talking to her because he was socializing with so many people. Like her, maybe many had got their hopes high. This was unfortunate for either sides.
