Trick or Treat?

I hurry down the street from school, today was Halloween.  I have to go buy a costume and get ready for trick or treating. I see a small little shop I've never seen before.

It's crammed down a alleyway between the Anderson's Teas and Sweet and Kay's Bouquet. I make my way down there. I see a old man he looks well into his twilight years about to lock up. If I had to guess,  he would be in his 90s.

"Excuse me sir?"

The man looks at me big bottle cork glasses on his face,  "Do you sell masks? Like costume masks?"

The man grins showing his missing teeth and bad breath, "Why of course, madame."

Never been called madame before but what ever, I'm glad this man is nice enough to let me shop after hours. I browse the shelves littered with mannequin heads wearing masks. I see a sea monster mask that I really like. I check the price tag, it's only £2.34. I fish around for my spending money mama gave me in my pocket but all I found is a big hole. With a heavy heart I go to apologize to the man and then leave.

"Now, madame. Trick or treat?" The man asks,

"Uh.." I look at him and around the small store,

"Trick.... or treat?"

"You pick." I said my mouth felt dry for some reason now. My eyes dart to the clock I had to be home soon so I could trick or treat with my siblings.

"You can keep the mask. Have a happy Halloween."

My eyebrows shot up but the man insisted and I took. I cant believe he gave me a treat. I went him and got dressed for a night of fun. House after house, bag after bag my head started to hurt and it felt too heavy.

I get to the last few houses the kind that sees those mega sized chocolate bars and get another bag filled. My head is really killing me now. I got to take the mask off, it's getting hard to breath. My fingers can't get underneath the rubber of it. I dig and dig I only manage to get my nails damaged. I beg my brother who can't get it off either. I drop my bag and flee to the store. The man's gotta still be there.  Hopefully.

I stand in the alleyway my jaw dropped the store was gone. It was a normal alleyway now like you'd find between any buildings.

I fall to my knees digging at the mask my breathing get choked out from me. I hear a voice as my vision spots and spins,

"I choose trick."

I collapses to the ground as a horrid laugh rings out. The mask grew tighter, my body spasms. I look up to the sky my jerking and twisting.  I see the man, and he's grinning.
