End of The World

I sit alone in the back corner of the lab. It's hard to breath, the smell of mold and decay is so strong.

It just happened out of the blink of an eye. We're just testing, giving our death row subjects test after test. Who cares if it's again the Geneva Convention, or against against the CDC or whatever big thing wants to crush our business.

They started dropping like flies, as we piled them up in a corner we realized the corner was getting smaller the more we moved.

They mutated into what can only be called zombies. Their flesh falling from their bones, the smell of rot is on them.

We tried fending them off with defective infants you know the ones. Those born with Downs, Autism, HIV, etc. It didn't work long their appetites grew and so did the herd. Anything they bit but didn't eat turned into one of them.

Douglas our senior staff scientist was the first to be taken down. He worked to keep the herd from escaping the building. Didn't realize he got bit until we ran out of feeder for the zombies.

All hell broke loose. Alarms and sirens rang, Douglas hit the yellow button with a x on it. Sending a alert to all Americans and fellow countries that a massive outbreak happened and to go to your preselected shelters and safe houses. Of course most Americans died within hours, guns don't kill them, fire doesn't kill them... I don't know what will.
I can hear them scratching along the walls. Their low growls and snarls, the unexpected screams of a worker getting caught. The smacking of lips and the crunching of bones.

I sneak my way down the hall where the inmates are kept,  or were kept. I'm sure somehow they figured out how to escape.

Cells were left open, a smell of infection, urine, and feces was strong. I covered my nose and checked each cell. I had to find someone to be a feeder.

Every cell was empty and I go into the security room. Walls upon walls of security footage from America, Canada,  and Mexico. I lock the door and watch the end of the world.
