Chapter 5

The previous day had gone so well. This day would hopefully go well too. Angela entered the school. She looked around for Aaliyah. Aaliyah had followed her on Instagram yesterday, so she did think well of her, right?

"Angela, there you are."

Aaliyah went up to her.

"Oh, Aaliyah, hello" Angela said.

"How are you doing?" asked Aaliyah.

"Pretty good."

"Did you find that art book?"

"So how's the art book?"

"Pretty good. There's lots of unused concepts,sprites, and stuff like that. Interesting stuff."

"That's so cool."

"Aali, there you are."

Monica and Hannah came up behind Aaliyah.

"Hi girls" Aaliyah said.

"Hey Aali. Oh, hi Angela. Didn't see you there" said Monica.

"Oh, uh, hi" said Angela.

"Angela, these are my friends, Monica and Hannah."

"Nice to meet you two" said Angela.

"Wow, I swear this is the first time I've heard you talk" said Hannah.

"Oh, we have to get to class" said Aaliyah. "See you later. Do sit with us at lunch."

"Alright, I will."

Angela went and sat in class. It was still hard to believe that this was all happening. Monica and Hannah were Aaliyah's friends and they were also in the popular girl crowd. If she could get them to like her, then she'd officially be friends with Aaliyah too. Angela still didn't know if Aaliyah considered her a friend. After all, they only really spoke yesterday, and besides, she still didn't think someone as cool as Aaliyah would want to be friends with her.

Lunch time came, and she looked around for Aaliyah and her friends.

"Hey Angela, we're here!" Aaliyah called her from a table.

Angela went and sat with them.

"Its hard to believe you actually became friends with Aali" said Hannah. "You never talk to anyone otherwise."

"Well.... I wanted to.... Try making friends, you know" said Angela.

"Well you're pretty lucky that Aali immediately accepted you. Guess she thought you were cool enough" said Monica.

Angela blushed. She didn't consider herself cool at all.

"So, what do you usually do?" asked Monica

"Um, I often study after school," said Angela.

"Of course, you're always so studious," said Hannah.

"Yeah, but I always had trouble with Math. Luckily Aaliyah helped me with my homework yesterday, otherwise it would've taken way longer for me to solve it" Angela said.

"Oh yeah, everyone hates Math. Everyone except Aali here" Monica nudged Aaliyah.

"Well, once you get the formulas, its actually not that bad '' said Aaliyah.

"Alright, enough about studying. Let's talk about actually interesting things. What kind of music do you listen to Angela?" asked Monica.

"Um.... anything that's popular, usually."

Most of what Angela listened to was video game music and she was not about to tell them that.

"Ohh, I see," said Hannah.

"Hey, Monica, Hannah, remember when I said we should all do something together?" asked Aaliyah.

"When did you say that?" asked Hannah.

"Uh..... yesterday? When you were leaving my house?"

"Ohhhhh. Do forgive Hannah, you know how forgetful she can be."

"Yeah, so, I was thinking, why don't we take Angela along?"

"Huh?" Angela blushed. Aaliyah wanted her to hang out with her friends?

"We could get to know each other better" said Aaliyah.

"Yeah, lets do that" said Monica.

"But where should we go?" asked Hannah.

"Well, I was thinking, why don't we go to the amusement park?" asked Aaliyah.

"The one that just opened up?" asked Angela.

"Yeah, there."

"Orrrrr, how about going to the mall?" asked Monica. "I don't think Angela goes there often."

"Not really."

"Yeah, so lets go there."

"I think the amusement park would be better," said Hannah.

"Oh come on now, we could show Angela around, do some shopping together, get some ice cream" said Monica.

"I'm fine with going anywhere," said Angela.

"So it's settled then. We're going to the mall with Angela" said Monica.

"Alright then" said Aaliyah. "It will be nice to show her around."

The bell rang, indicating the end of lunch time.

"Oh, lets discuss this later. Gotta get back to class now" said Monica.

Angela went back to class. All she could think about was the planned trip. She was finally getting to do things like this as a teen. It was going well. She was actually redoing her youth.

Suddenly, someone tapped her.

"Hey, the teacher's calling your name" the boy behind her whispered.

"Angela. Angela Wang" the teacher called her name.

"Huh" Angela was suddenly shaken back to reality.

"Angela, please read page 34" the teacher said.

"Huh, uh, okay."

Angela picked up the textbook and started reading.

When she was done with her part, she sat back down. The boy behind her tapped her again.

"Hey genius, what happened? You usually pay close attention in class. Didn't get enough sleep?" he asked.

"No, its not that."

"Then what is it?"

"Its nothing."

Angela turned her head back again.

School soon ended and Angela made her way back.

"Hey, Angela!"

Aaliyah caught up with her.

"Hi Aaliyah" said Angela. "How were classes?"

"Pretty good," said Aaliyah. "How about yours?"

"Heh, I got so excited about the mall trip that I zoned off" said Angela.

"Oh wow" said Aaliyah. "Hey, I gotta tell you, if there's one thing you should know about Monica, she's very passionate about whatever she does. She wants things to go according to plan no matter what. Once she has her heart set on something, there's no way you can tell her no."

"Yeah I'll keep that in mind" said Angela.

"Anyways, see you tomorrow Angela" said Aaliyah.

The two girls then walked towards their homes.
