Two years ago.

A few days after her girlfriend had disappeared, Sakura began hearing incriminating rumors involving Ami. More specifically, rumors that said she had stolen a large sum of money from the hospital's budget and ran away back to her home country, Kusa.

"I heard this isn't the first time she's done this.."

"What are we going to do without our regular budget? The kids in pediatrics are low in supplies."

"I bet she used Dr. Haruno as leverage..."

"I can't believe the Hokage's apprentice would let this happen..."

Enraged at what could have been false rumors about her girlfriend, Sakura mindlessly slapped the nosey nurses, causing chaos to ensue, and had to be dragged to the Hokage Tower by ANBU before she could do more damage.

"They're spreading false accusations about her! That's slander Shishou!" Sakura shouted as the ANBU held her by her arms.

The blonde woman showed no expression behind her messy desk, her eyes so serious it agitated the girl further, but after a few seconds of letting her breathe, she pulled out a beige folder and presented it to her.

The ANBU backed away and Sakura, slightly calmer, shakily accepted the folder. 

Her face instantly paled.

Charges: Accused of stealing hospital funds and selling sensitive patient records. There have been numerous reports of people suffering from identity theft linked to stolen information reported from the hospital.

Shinobi investigating the accused have found evidence tying her to the charges. People claiming to be clients were brought in for questioning and have testified to having bought information from the accused.

Security footage and other testimonies from the hospital staff report witnessing the accused presenting suspicious behavior and bribing staff for sensitive information.

As Sakura continued to read, tears began to blurry her vision. The photographs catching Ami smuggling patient records were unimaginable.

She had trusted Ami with a lot of sensitive information and even gave her the keys to the hospital so she could help lock up the 'restricted access,' rooms.

But what really made her sob out loud was the last photograph.

It was Ami in her own office stealing a portion of the hospital budget from her desk, but that itself wasn't the worst part. It was the fact she directly faced the security camera and smirked as she pocketed the money and with the other hand, showed the keys she had entrusted her with.

Tsunade watched her student shake violently, she was hyperventilating, but as much as she wanted to pity her student she had to face reality.

"Sakura, this girl intentionally approached you with the intent of getting her fix in money and ran. She used you to appear untouchablr and unsuspected as she stole for weeks." Tsunade reported, her voice powerful and strong, showing she wasn't just her mentor at the moment, but the Hokage of the village. "You should know that behind every rumor is an underlying truth to it, and she groomed you into believing she could do no harm."
