The lawn of her parents' home glistened a shimmering gold, catching the rays of the rising sun. It was the morning after Christmas, a light drizzle misting the cold December air. Lilith had told her family that she was returning to New York early to attend the winter intensive study, which her mother was more than happy to believe. It had been a restorative albeit short break from the stress of life but now she stood face to face with the unknown. As she sat on the porch of the house, waiting for someone from the band to pick her up, she mused about what the next few weeks were to bring. She had not tried to use her newfound powers again, partly out of fear and partly because they seemed to drain her energy. It all felt like fantasy, from the imagination of a lonely little girl that wanted to feel important and different. And maybe that is exactly what it was. Maybe I am actually going crazy Lilith thought with a smirk.

At about 8:00 am a black car with tinted windows pulled up and popped its trunk. She waved goodbye to her mother who was standing at the window and carried her luggage to the car. With some effort, she pushed it in and slammed the trunk shut. She then walked to the passenger's side and got in. To her surprise, Omega was sitting behind the driver's seat, his eyes meeting hers momentarily before she looked away. She instantly felt embarrassed and guilty. She had not spoken to him since she threw him down and worried that he would still be cross with her. Looking out the darkly tinted window at her house, Lilith was quiet. The lights on her family's Christmas tree twinkled through the bay window, as if waving goodbye. A small thread of longing ran through her.

"Are you ready?" Omega asked, his tone casual. She nodded, still avoiding his eyes and instead looking over the evergreens that speckled the neighborhood. He could sense her reservations, her energy easy to read. His hand rested on her knee, rubbing it gently. "Don't be so tense. Alpha told me to let go, but I was being arrogant. You put me in my place, that's for sure!" Omega laughed. Lilith looked over at him, a smile softening her face. His blue eyes were bright with joy and excitement.

Thankful that he was making light of it, Lilith sighed. "So, Papa said that you all knew about my...ability. How? And why did no one tell me?" she asked, settling into the leather seat. As he drove, he answered her questions.

"We knew because we could feel it. When you would get upset, it was like a gentle push. Papa was also keenly interested in you at first sight during that meet and greet. It takes a lot to catch his attention." Omega glanced over to her, then sighed. "We didn't tell you because...well, I don't know why. I guess we figured that would be a hard pill to swallow. And after you left, we were unsure if your abilities would develop any further."

"Why were you so mad at me when I saw you?" she stared at the profile of his silver mask. She had made some assumptions, but she wanted to hear it from him. That maybe he wanted her.

"I was upset that Alpha got to you first, and that you were planning on leaving yet again. It has been difficult without you, Lilith. I have missed our encounters." He gave a low laugh. She blushed and rolled her eyes.

"You all are insatiable." she muttered.

"You satisfied me wholly, beautiful woman." Omega growled. Lilith blushed deeper and quickly changed the subject. She wasn't sure she would ever get use to this sort of attention.

The hour and a half drive went by quickly and soon they pulled up behind a large tour bus. Eugene was a medium sized college town where many of her high school friends now lived. It had many of the quarks of Portland, but without a lot of the big city issues. Currently the scenery was dreary and withered, but in the spring the University was breathtaking. The buildings were old, aged trees dense along the edge of campus. She nearly went to this school but needed to leave her family for her own sanity.
