Trials and Tribulations

Lilith stood in the kitchen of the tour bus, pinning her chestnut brown hair into a French twist. It had been nearly a month since she had the vision of Earth. Since that day, she had not had any that were nearly as intense. She had also not had a moment to pause. If she wasn't training with Air or Omega, she was at clergy meetings. Her nights were then monopolized with concerts or fending off the sexual advances of the men. It was a moment of weakness, with Papa. At least that's what she told herself when she lay in bed thinking about it. Fantasizing about him taking her again, the caress of his hands on her bare skin. All of these things had, at least, made the time easy to pass. The band had finished their last show in Europe the previous night and summer was in full swing. She had been told that summer also meant further commitment to the clergy, starting with today.

Alpha sat on the couch looking Lilith over with lustful eyes. Today was the day that they would all discover if she was in fact to become a High Priestess. Keepers of knowledge and truths, and often celibate as to not detract from their devotion to the cloth. Alpha sighed at the thought, struggling with daydreams of his own. So he took in every ounce of her when he had the chance to do so, as to better fuel said daydreams. Her lips were without any lipstick, naturally pink and supple. Only grey eye shadow that brightened her green eyes, hidden beneath long, thick lashes. He sighed again, envious that Air and Papa were going to spend the day with her.

"What's wrong?" Lilith asked, sitting across from him in a large armchair.

"You are just so breath taking." Alpha lamented. Lilith laughed at his comment.

"I'm sorry I pain you." She smiled. Alpha stood and closed the space between them, leaning over her. The sweet scent of gardenias and vanilla made his loins burn, his hands gripping the leather back of the chair.

"You could always make me feel better you know." His eyes were obscured by the silver mask, but he made no attempts to hide his intensions. Before he could seduce her further the door of the bus opened, Papa and Air arriving. As with every clergy meeting, Papa was wearing his robes but instead of his miter he wore a black crown with purple amethysts throughout. Alpha stood and took Lilith's hand, helping her up.

"Hello Papa, hi Air." Lilith said with a forced smile. The anxiety that she had been staving off all morning crept into her, gripping her stomach. Papa removed his crown and raising it up, the metal unwound, and the crown vanished. With a lopsided smiled, he then moved to Lilith. Taking her chin in his hand he kissed her passionately, his tongue running along her teeth. Timidly, she reciprocated his kiss, placing her hand on his chest. Just a kiss made her weak in the knees and sent her heart fluttering. She wanted them to be alone, she wanted him to take her so badly the need throbbed deep in her core. His taste, his scent were all perfect and made just for her. Then, just as quickly as it began, he pulled away and her mind cleared of his power.

"Hello Lilith." Papa greeted, his sensual tone making her blush. She wanted to profess her need for him, but she bit her tongue. His gloved hand cradled her cheek, his gaze full of love and admiration. She placed her hand atop of his, closing her eyes and savoring his touch. "You are so tense, Lilith." He pulled her into his arms, looking back at Alpha who simply rolled his eyes. "Well, let us worry about that when we get back. For now we must be off. Shall we go Air?" Air merely grunted and with that they departed. Though she still hated the fire, it was becoming easier to tolerate the heat.

When Lilith opened her eyes, she saw they were back at the large terminal she was now familiar with. The black, gold veined floors glitters in an unseen light source, a light that was all surrounding but yet hidden. Lilith paused, taking a deep breath and readying herself for what was to come. She felt an expert of sorts at taking tests, but she knew nothing of this one. Together, the three walked into the meeting chamber behind the towering wooden doors. Though the raised seats still ran along the sides of the room, there were now four chairs at the head of the chamber. The seats around her were full of people, many dressed in business attire. Papa walked ahead of them as Air guided her to stand in front of a plain wooden table, a black cloth covering it. Papa took a seat in the second chair. Flicking his hand into the air, his crown appeared at the tips of his fingers, which he then set on his head. From a side door, three more people emerged. Lilith recognized one right away. The woman from the Halloween party, still dressed in black robes, cinched at the waist with a thick sliver rope. The other two were men, one in his mid-40s, the other much older. The judges greeted Papa and took their seats. After they had all settled, Papa cleared his throat, notifying Lilith the exam was going to start. Her heart jumped but she maintained eye contact with him, the only familiar thing she had to look at here. The only thing she felt she could ground herself to.
