Star spun around, fear filling her mind. At first she thought it was a twoleg with a carrier, but as she look back she saw the pointed ear of a cat. The other ear she saw was torn, like something clawed it. Star let out a yowl, she was only five moons old, so she was as terrified as she was on her first visit to the vet. Her head spun, and after a minute her eyes focused. A skinny cat look at her, with one eye. The other eye had two claw marks across it, and his eye was shut. His working eye had a claw mark on it too, but he could open it. Star instantly backed up, and fell into the twoleg fridge. The cat sat down, in a very calm way. Who is this cat, why is he just watching me like that, and how did he get so many scars? Star looked at his back leg, and found where the metal sound came from. The tom had a ripped leg, with a paw made from metal. It had blood stains on it and was cracked.

"Who are you?" Star asked, attempting to find out more about this stranger.

"I was wondering the same about you," replied the scarred tom.

"I am Star," she told him, dipping her head politely.

"Well, I'm called Scar," he mewed with the sound of his wheezing breath following his words, "but that's not my real name." He finished and quickly looked around. "Follow me," he mewed. He got up and his other back leg hit the ground. He slipped and fell on his side, his metal foot clanking on the tile floor.  Star lunged forward and grabbed his scruff, pulling him to his feet. He was surprisingly not heavy, despite his metal paw.

"Thanks kittypet," he let out with a deep breath. Star glanced at his leg. It had a bandage tied to it, and he kept it off the ground.

"What happened to your leg?" She asked, curious of his many scars.

"We'll have time later for stories now let's go," he mewed with a rasp of his breath.

He turned around and limped to a box. Then he pushed it with his muzzle and revealed a tunnel strait through the wall. Star sniffed at its entrance, and stared down the tunnel. It was to dark to see through it, but she smelt clean air on the other side. "Where does this lead?" She mewed.

"It leads to an area of green fields, and many dangers," he explained. "We have to get out of here before they find us," he mewed. Us? So he must have escaped too! "Okay. Let's go," Star said, "I'm ready for an adventure!"

"Okay, you first," he said, "I'll keep watch behind you." Star took a deep breathe and walked into the tunnel. Her breathing became shallow as she felt lack of air, and the weight of stone above her head. I feel like I'm gonna suffocate in here! She started to run, gasping for air. "Slow down, you won't die," said Scar from behind her. His voice echoed the walls, and she slowed down, breathing heavily. She tasted the air, and smelt clean air, and grass. It's been so long since I've been outside! She thought, and quickened her pace again.

"Hurry!" She heard Scar meow behind her, "A twoleg is in the room behind us!" She quickened up, and broke through the end of the tunnel, taking deep breathes. Scar limped out behind her and flopped on his side in the grass. The sky was dark, with millions of stars lighting up the sky. A very small moon shown from behind a cloud. Star ran around in the big grassy field, enjoying the feeling of wind in her fur.

I feel alive again! Just like my dad was said to be!
