Warrior Cats: Path to Stars; Book 1; Haunted Dreams

Chapter 14

   Mist drifted around him, as Scar woke up.  All he saw was a forest,  the scents of prey strong in the air, and the scents of many ancient cats.  A cat, her white fur full of stars, stood in front of him.  She stood tall, and looked as if she had been here for many seasons over. 

  "Greetings Scar, welcome to StarClan.  We have understood that you have not fulfilled your destiny yet."  She mewed, her meow echoing off the glistening trees.  Stars filled the clearing with a blue light, and he saw two more StarClan cats appear.  One was Rose, and the other looked like a... kit?

   I'm in StarClan?  Did the twolegs... put me to sleep?  He thought, and looked down on the star-furred kit.  She had blue eyes, and had an orange striped pelt, with a mark of... burnt fur on her back.  Some fur was gone, and skin showed.  Still, she looked as ancient as this other cat. 

   "Greetings Scar, I'm Flamekit!  I know I look like a small kit, but I have been here for countless moons."  She squeaked.  Rose stood forward, and pressed her muzzle against his flank.

  "Hello Scar, welcome and may you find new life here."  She mewed with softness in her gaze.  Scar stood up, and a weird feeling surged the through him.  He looked at his back paw.  It was normal?  His metal paw was gone, and was replaced by his normal gray paw.  He looked back up at the yet-to-be-named StarClan warrior. 

    "Scar, you must fulfill your destiny.  You must keep the blood from washing away the water.  We three cats will each give you a life to fulfill your destiny.  Keep watch for the cats of the Tribe.  They must help the clans."  She mewed, her eyes shining. 

  "But what if-" Scar started, but she cut him off. 

   

  "I am Tigermist, and I give you a life for protection.  Protect those who are weaker than you, and don't forget that one cat must be kept alive, or all fate is lost."  Tigermist mewed, and pressed her nose on his.  Energy filled his pelt, and felt like he could run forever.  Next, Rose came up to him. 

  "I am Rose, and I give you a life for bravery, use it when fear takes over." She pressed her nose to his, and he felt pain run through him, and quickly vanish.  She stepped back, and Flamekit came up to him. 

  "I'm Flamekit!" She squeaked, "I give you a life for love, use it when dealing with young kits, and keep them safe.  Do not run from responsibly forever.  You know it will happen someday!"  She stretched up to touch her nose to his. 

    Fierce pain, burned his pelt, and he almost fell over.  He stood up strait, and thanked them.  "I will use my lives wisely."  He vowed. 

  "We will be with you, always.  Remember, keep the blood from washing away the water."  Mewed Tigermist, and everything faded around him. 

   Soon, Scar woke, his eyes still shut, he listened around him.  He felt a cat dragging him.  His ear twitched.  "Swiftfall!  His ear twitched!"  Mewed an unfamiliar voice. 

  "That's impossible.  He died." hhissed Swiftfall.  Suddenly, Scar opened his eye wide, and heard a mrrow of happiness.

"Scar!  You're back!"
