Warrior Cats: Path to Stars; Book 1; Haunted Dreams

Chapter 6

   Scar woke, fear clawing his belly.  He quickly realized he wasn't awake, but dreaming.  He saw himself laying in the grass with his friend,  Swiftfall.  He didn't want to tell Star that he was friends with her dad, and that he had recognized her the second he saw her get placed in her cage to be de-clawed.  He looked around, and saw Swiftfall crying. 

 

  "Hey Swiftfall, is this real or a dream...?"  He mewed at his wailing friend.  Swiftfall looked at him, and must have noticed something. 

  "I think we're sharing a dream."  He said simply, his tears stopping.  "I don't remember you with one eye.  Last I saw you, you had two eyes."  He mewed with a hint of laughter in his mew. 

   "Darn rogues, I tell ya',"  He retorted.  It felt good to see his friend again.  I should tell him about Star, but I'm not sure what to say.  "Hey, last I saw you was right after... you know what.  But I have good news for ya!"  He said. 

  "What is it?  Did you get a mate or something?"  Swiftfall guessed, and suppressed a mreow of laughter. 

  "No!" He retorted and batted his friend on the head. 

  "Well, it's about... well... I don't know how to say it, but, I... I found your daughter!"  He said, awkwardly.  Silence greeted his words.  Suddenly Swiftfall launched into his questions. 

  "Where is she?" He started, but a look from Scar stopped him from asking any more questions. 

  "We might be able to enter a dream.  Like old times,"  said Scar.  Scar had a secret, that only he and Swiftfall knew about.  Scar could enter other cats dreams, that's how they were sharing a dream at the moment.

  "Let's do it.  I need to see her."  mewed Swiftfall. 

   Scar got up and stalked down the forest path and flicked his tail.  One, two, three times and a light flicked on his tailtip.  Then he and Swiftfall walked through the bushes and into an ally.  They appeared to be atop a building.  They look down on a nightmare in progress.  Star was sitting in the ally, while twolegs trapped her and threw sharp objects at her.  One twoleg raised a short deathstick and pointed it at her. 

  "NO!" Yowled Swiftfall and he leapt off the ledge, and Scar jumped after him, hesitating before jumping.  Swiftfall landed in front of Star, and let out a snarl.  "You will never hurt my daughter, no matter in a dream, or realife!"  He growled at it.

Then a boom sounded. One, two, three booms...
