"How come you...you're the only one visiting me Lana?"Johnny managed to ask.i was at the hospital now visiting him and just making sure he doesn't feel lonely,"there's a Rumble happening right now Johnnycakes,I'm not going because I'm pregnant."I replied."plus I thought you may need some company."I added,"y...you're pregnant?thats...great."he managed to say.i looked at him sadly,I held his hand."save your strength Johnny,stay alive."i said,tears started to form in my eyes.

"Lana...I need you to...to do something for me..."he managed to say,I sniffed."w-what is it Johnny?"I asked,he weakly pointed at an envelope with his eyes.i grabbed it,"give this....to Ponyboy....and tell him....tell him to...s..stay gold...."he managed to say.at this point tears were now rolling down my cheeks,"I-I will Johnny,I promise I will."I reassured him.he smiled,"thank....you...."that's when he flatlined."No!NO!"I sobbed,Ponyboy and Dally came into the room.i looked at them,tears still flowing down my cheeks.Ponyboy was in shock and Dally widened his eyes,"no..."he whispered.he nearly fell to his knees,I ran to him and hugged him(dropping the envelope in the process).he hugged me back tightly,Ponyboy shakily held up the envelope.
I looked at him and sniffed,"he-he wanted me to tell you something."i said.Ponyboy looked at me,tears flowed down his cheeks too."w-what is it?"he managed to ask,"he...he wanted me to tell you to stay gold."I replied.Dally then walked off,"Dally?"I said.i followed him,"go to the Curtis house Lana."he said."but Dal-"he cut me off,"just do it!"he yelled."I'll be back later."he mumbled,walking off.he's never yelled at me before like that,Ponyboy put his hand on my shoulder.i looked at him,"he'll be ok Lana,he just...he probably just needs some space that's all."he said.
