We ended up in the dining room of the Gusters' place. Gus' father Bill was sitting at the end with his mother Winnie on his right, then Gus, Tyler, Flynn, Peter, then Spencer was at the other end with me next to him, then Shawn, Henry, then Edith and Edgar. Winnie handed Gus a large stocking to Gus and he knew what was happening.
"Oh, I think there's a surprise in here for someone."she told before going to the kitchen.
"I'm grown. You don't have to do this every year." Gus told as he pulled two 50s' out of the stocking.
"We hear you, son, we hear ya. And we're sure you're very happy still being a sales rep." Bill told as he patted Gus on the shoulder.
"I am. Pharmaceutical sales is a very desirable field."
"Of course, and you're doing very well for yourself. That's $100, boy." He told making Gus roll his eyes and put the money away as Shawn looked towards Henry and point towards Gus.
"No. Not gonna happen." Henry stated.
"What about us?" Me and my siblings joked.
"Just wait till Christmas." He joked back making us all smile.
"Is this a common occurrence?" Spencer quietly asked.
"Yep."
"So Ashley," Bill began to speak making me look towards him. "Gus says you're working for the FBI."
"I am, along with my buddy Spencer. We work in the behavioural analysis unit."
"Sounds like a lot of work."
"It is. But we make time for ourselves when we get the chance." Spencer told.
"Hopefully you guys don't get kidnapped and get buried alive or tied to a chair." He joked making me and Spencer freeze.
"Dad." Gus quietly told making his father look towards his as he shook his head not to go towards that topic.
"Sorry."
"It's ok. You didn't know." I told smiling.
"You know. We always thought you and Gus would end up together when you kids were younger." He told changing topic causing me and my siblings to laugh.
"No offence to Gus. But never. Don't get me wrong I love him to death, but I see him as family nothing more." I told.
"Besides she's dating someone right now." Tyler told.
"Is that so?"
"Yep."
"I think Gus mentioned someone called Dean once. You two back together?"
"No, we just feel being friends is what works for us." I told before Winnie return with the Turkey on a platter.
"Turkey's ready!" She told with a big smile.
"Finally!" Henry told making me and my siblings chuckle at him.
'Guess we share hunger.'
"It smells good, Winnie." Bill told.
"Why smell it when you can taste it?" Henry questioned.
"Agreed." I added as my siblings nodded.
Henry reached across in front of Shawn trying to stab a fork into the yams, only for Shawn to lift Henry's arm at the elbow, pushing it away from the food. Gus took the Turkey from his mother so he could help set it on the table.
"Speaking of smoked turkey, you know why Gus isn't a smoker? 'Cause when we were kids I made him smoke an entire pack of cigarettes, and he discovered he hated the taste. Pretty good influence if I do say so myself." Shawn told making me face palm.
"Probably what gave him asthma." Winnie told as she sat. "Ashley dear, elbows off the table."
"Sorry." I told before taking it off.
"Probably what stunted his growth, too." Bill added.
"I'm five-ten-and-a-half." Gus argued.
"We hear you, son. We hear ya."
"We're all at least 6' feet." Me, Spencer and my siblings told as one as we all took a sip of our drinks.
"Gus, you're tall enough. Shawn, you're an idiot, and to be fair, there's a lot of complicated causes for asthma. Ash like usual, you and your siblings are saints and Spencer is also one as well as being quiet. Now, let's eat." Henry told.
I saw Tyler and Flynn go to sneak a drink from Peter and Gus' cups making me clear my throat and made them put them down. Tyler signed that they were 21 and I signed back that his parents didn't want them drinking still and to respect that wish.
'I love them but my god they can be a pain.'
"You know, it was actually Gus' asthma medication that first interested him in pharmaceuticals. So you're welcome for that." Shawn told.
"You made your point, Shawn. You're a good friend." Henry told holding his plate with both hands and trying to shut his son up.
"Yes, you're very close. So close, I wonder if he wouldn't be married by now if he wasn't spending so much time with you." Winnie told as she looked accusingly at him. "If only Ashley was around as much as you then maybe there wouldn't have been a dead bird."
"Ah yes. Well our father missed Texas so we went back."
"It's a shame he couldn't have joined us." Bill told making me and my siblings chuckle as we went to drink to not say anything and Henry put his plate down on the table in frustration.
"Trust me. I get mine. I mean...I'm just waiting for Mrs. Right." Gus stated and I mouthed I'm sorry to Spencer who was just very confused what was happening.
"We at least thought you'd have a house by now." Bill stated.
"I have time. The market's still cooling off."
"Yeah. So's the food." Henry told though he was ignored.
"Ashley has a house." Bill stated.
"Ash is rich, she's able to make spur of the moment choices and not loose that much money."
"Ayo."
"You won't have time if you keep using all your extra energy with this gypsy detective agency nonsense you two have cooked up." Winnie told making Shawn chuckle.
"Mrs. G., it's a psychic detective agency." Shawn told putting his right hand to his head and used his left to mine a sign. "Psych."
My siblings gave me a confused and I signed that I'll explain later to them, making them nod.
'Oh boy.'
"And how does this differ from that pet baptism business you had as kids?" She asked making Spencer give me a confused look and I shrugged.
"First of all, that was an LLC. And I'm the one that let Gus believe that Jesus was black. The whole time we were grow..." he told making me hit foot and he began to try and recover after everyone stared at him. "Growing up, which of course he is. He is that. That... he is that."
He ended up lowering his head and I pinched the bridge of my nose at how bad this dinner had gone.
'This day could not get any worse.'
