AN
I am so sorry that I haven't posted sooner. When school started I started focusing on it until a month went by and I realized that I haven't posted in a while. Then midterms came and I ended up getting swamped in work. But, after two months, here we are. Thank you to all of you who have been patient.
For all of you who were waiting for a bit of Grian's backstory, here it is!End AN
"You should get some sleep," Mumbo said as he walked into the cave and saw Grian sitting down, holding a diamond sword with a couple of smaller blades that wrap around near the hilt of the sword. There was some sort of enchantment on it that caused it to glow slightly red with small sparks flying off. He can see just by looking at Grian that he's exhausted. His eyes had bags under them that were so dark they could easily be mistaken for bruises.
Grian had been working on the new mycelium resistance base for the past few days until the other resistance members literally took the blocks from his hands and told him to rest.
"I will sleep in a minute," Grian responded.
He started to walk towards Grian when his eyes glazed over a dragon egg. It must have been something that Grian had hidden away before he promised to not keep secrets from him.
"Is the dragon egg new?" Mumbo asked, turning to walk towards the egg to get a better look.
Grian looked up from the sword in his lap to see the egg that Mumbo was talking about. "No, do you remember my detective agency in the last world? It is the egg I kept in there."
Mumbo's head turned towards Grian sharply, "you took the egg? I know you have a bunch of items from Ardonia and a couple from Wynn but, what happens if having an item from an admin-controlled world causes problems to the world it's brought to?"
"Pearl has already tested it. Because it is not from or made in the world, the admin magic will not affect it as it has been taken away from the place where it was being affected to another place. If Xisuma found out about the egg and put his control over it, it would act just like any other admin-effected egg."
"What's different about it than another egg," Mumbo asked while looking at the egg.
"Touch it."
Mumbo reached out to touch the egg, expecting it to teleport as soon as he made contact only for the egg to stay in place and solid under his hand. Without admin magic, eggs do nothing?
"Eggs are only supposed to teleport when they are in danger. They are not supposed to teleport at the slightest touch," Grian said, answering the unasked question. "Dragon eggs in Ardonia also hatch. I know this egg is not from there so I am not hopeful that it will do anything other than return to its original teleportation."
"What kind of dragon do you think would hatch from it, if it could?"
Grian raised an eyebrow at Mumbo, "I do not know. I believe an ender dragon egg would hatch an ender dragon."
Mumbo stopped and took in the response that Grian gave him, "no, I mean in the way of how they would act. Maybe that way? I don't know. Didn't you tell me that even without admin magic some of the things wouldn't act like they do in Ardonia?"
"They do not. Some of it would be because of the knowledge that is different between Ardonia and the worlds. Other things would be from the magic or lack of the type of magic in the world. Even though the egg does not teleport every time you touch it, it will probably never hatch and it might not even be able to teleport at all anymore."
Silence fell between the two. Mumbo stared at the egg, noticing that it didn't even have the faint glow that dragon eggs usually have. There were no particles, no glow, no teleport. If Grian told him that he forged an egg out of crying obsidian, he would believe it. The only problem is that Grian can't forge things in obsidian because it's too hard for him to mold into anything.
