Ethan's mind was hazy, bouncing from thought to thought,
as he quietly ate, but there was one lingering thought he
couldn't shake or reconcile. How am I suppose to tell
Julianne about Tiffany and I carpooling together?
It was all innocent. All she had done was ask him if he'd be
interested in saving some money and who couldn't use a
little more savings. The economy had been rough, but it
hadn't hit him that hard. He had been managing well.
Suddenly, he realized there was nothing on his plate and he
was still sitting there, staring blankly at the white ceramic
peeking through the blotches of sauce he had added to his
noodles.
Ethan felt Julianne's eyes on him and returned her gaze.
She smiled curtly. She betrayed no emotion to him, so he
decided to get the monkey off his back.
