[26] Shocking surprise

Everyone was gathered at the Narukami Shrine.

People were getting ready and putting on the gear, making sure their weapons were right and ready to use if needed. It's the middle of the day and you and your group were training since morning.

Yae Miko was helping you train while the other three had to train within themselves. It was exhausting to do her training but they were really sufficient to do.

While looking around you noticed some people pacing around and to be honest, you were feeling kind of nervous too.

You already know Baal shouldn't be underestimated just like Yae has said—telling stories about her times in war and how strong she is. She's even told you that she's her familiar and she does miss seeing her.

If the reason why Baal acted this way in the first place to seek out Yae or you with the same genes as her, was to get closer in a way she couldn't in millions of years.

You only had met Baal in person once and that was the day you arrived at the Kujou Clan.

Now that you think about it, maybe a reason why you were picked to be in the clan was for her to get some sort of closure if she hadn't seen Yae in so long.

But now, you think it was something more.

Baal probably won't fight but there still could be a possibility that she will. If she sees Yae she might stand down and willing to listen about her actions in the real world.

Sighing and running your hands through your hair you looked up to see Thoma in front of you.

"You okay?" He frowned as he placed a hand on your shoulder, sliding it down to soothe you.

"Just thinking, don't worry lover boy." You laughed as he scoffed and looked away embarrassed, "don't be embarrassed it's cute."

He playfully pushed you and rolled his eyes. He then turned around and put his hand in his pocket, pulling out something. "Whatcha got there?" You moved your head side to side behind him to look.

"Close your eyes and I'll show you." You glared at him but you closed your eyes. When you felt something touch your hand you opened your eyes.

You looked down and saw a little keychain of a fox and behind it was a key. Thoma was looking away from you but he was smiling, "you serious...?" He turned to face you confused.

"What? You don't like it? ...should've listened to Dainsleif instead." He sighs and you nudged him shaking your head.

"Dainsleif? Ohhh." You gave him a smirk and he glared at you, knowing what you meant, you laughed, "I'm kidding! I love the little fox and the key.. you weren't kidding huh?"

"No, think it would be nice to move in with someone as crazy as you." Scoffing, you were about to reply but Yae cleared her throat, and looked to the front where Ayato was standing. You followed her gaze and nodded.

Ayato gave a small speech about what to be aware about and advising to stay together. Yae then stepped up next to him, and faced the front moving her hands and suddenly it all went black.

When you looked around it was dark with a purple sky stretching far and wide, lighting striking any time.

Thoma had grabbed your hand and pulled you to Yae while you looked around to find Dainsleif and Sara behind you.

"Trying to interrupt my time alone in here Yae?"

You heard Baal's voice and you found her now in front of you, facing Yae Miko while she stayed calm.

"We're just here to pay a visit, nothing wrong with doing that once in a while Ei." She remarks, taking in the sight of her old friend. "Aren't you lonely being here all alone?"

Baal scoffs shaking her head and stepped back, walking around eyeing everyone who was in her domain. "Not at all. I have no reason to be out and about. If you had a problem you could have gone to the me outside."

Yae stepped up and grabbed your hand. "No reason? Then why were people targeting y/n then? It was because of her genes right? Just like mine." The priestess looked to you and then to Baal, watching her expression change.

Baal stopped in the middle of the domain and summoned her polearm to face everyone—more focus onto you and Yae.

"Yes. I had taken in y/n after what had happened to her parents, to your sister." She began walking again towards your small group, "I needed her to wait years for her to grow up, so I can take her fox blood, but for something that isn't your concern."

You could see in the corner of your eye Yae was slowly moving towards you to keep a hand out. "My my, never thought you of all people would be so power hungry when you're already strong as is."

The shogun clicked her tongue and drew her polearm and aimed it underneath your chin. You froze and Thoma stepped up but you shook your head.

Your focus returned to the front and looked at Baal. There was a look in her eyes you couldn't name but, you noticed that her hold on her weapon was slightly shaking.

"No, but it's something I tremendously need right now."

"Why do you even need our blood for?" You spoke up and raised a brow at Baal.

"My sister. I want to know if there's a way I can just see her once.." she muttered. A few gasps from the men behind you and whispers were heard. Yae Miko was shaking her head as she crossed her arms.

Was it even possible to meet someone from the past, that hasn't walked this earth for hundreds of years?

You understand that you're special like Yae but could that actually work out for Baal? What if it does work, but something goes wrong?

"By doing that you might endanger your life and possibly others around you. Anything bad could happen if you—"

"I KNOW! What I'm talking about. I just need to see if I can, do you not want to help me Miko?" She was frustrated but she needed to know if she had any support in this plan of hers.

"Of course I would help but this is wrong Ei, everything you've done has." Yae stepped forward and looked straight at her old friend.

"Fine then, I guess I'll get on with it." She instantly pulled you away from the group, and Thoma went out to grab your hand—failing to do so, he took his polearm out and into a fighting stance.

She held you with your close and drew her weapon in front of you, the sharp edge of the polearm close to your neck. You were staring at Yae and the others to try to stay calm but in the inside, you were kind of panicking.

Thoma and Dainsleif took a few steps closer and Sara brought Yae to her side. You stared at your friend, knowing it was probably hard on her to see her role model act such a way.

"Give me y/n right now!" Thoma yelled and swung his pole arm around to face the sharp edge of his weapon to Baal.

Everyone was on guard. Ayato was speaking to someone in the back of his and the Kujou clans men, eventually taking a quick peek to what was happening on your side.

Baal tightened her arms around you and held her weapon closer and drawing small amount of blood from your neck. She looked down and saw red cover some of the pole arm, speculating it.

"I wouldn't do that it if I were you." Someone's voice echoed and you looked to find Scaramouche inside the domain, walking towards your area.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be out and about somewhere far?" Baal sneered making the harbinger laugh.

Scaramouche was shaking his head, keeping his eyes on her but his eyes widened, reaching to get you. Everything was slow. You could only feel warmth coming from the side of your stomach and everyone's faces in front of you blurred.
