EDGAR: It had been a little bit over a month since you were first introduced to Edgar Frog, or bandana boy as you liked to call him.
Somehow, you managed to become attached to the Frog brother's hip. You were always tagging along with him, Alan, and Sam. But the other two boys never minded, as number one, they thought you were cool. And two, Edgar would always tell them that they would just have to "deal with it".
That was probably the first clue to Alan and Sam that Edgar liked you. Alan knew that Edgar neither of them could ever warm up to anyone, but especially not a girl. So, when the other frog brother caught you giving Edgar a long hug outside of the store one day... he knew Edgar must've felt some sort of way about you that definitely wasn't platonic.
Sam was always the one to tease Edgar about it, saying things like:
"HEY, ED! YOUR GIRLFRIEND'S HERE!"
It always earned Sam a smack to the back of the head, or a punch to the side. But, he just couldn't help it. He had never seen Edgar so lively to be around another human being.
Edgar had finally admitted to himself that he may have a "small" crush on you. He realized this when he caught himself thinking about how pretty your laugh was one day. And from the moment he first saw you drawing on the wall, he knew you were pretty. But, as time went on, and you two continued to hang out more, these thoughts grew, and if he were being completely honest... they were becoming hard to contain as well.
Of course he couldn't risk you finding out, as school would start soon, and you would probably end up meeting some jock that was way cooler than him. And, who was he to take that away from you? You deserved better than the hard, tough exterior he kept up. You had tried so many times to get his walls down, get him to have an actual conversation with you about his thoughts and feelings. But, he always changed the subject. Because, once he let that happen, he knew he would be done for.
You on the other hand, were completely oblivious to the inner struggle that Edgar had faced when it came to you. You liked him, a lot, actually. But, Edgar had stated multiple times that he never really saw the point of dating.
He would always say the same thing:
"Why commit yourself to someone who's just gonna end up leaving at some point?"
