Spooky Hands

There are few people out there who find the cloak of darkness comforting but that is exactly how Jungkook feels about it. His friends know that he won't be that person who will bite their hands off for an invitation to a party or club but a quiet movie night around one of their houses was something he would jump at the chance of. Jungkook was most at home when the nights drew in and the early evenings were dark. He liked going for a run when 5am looked more like midnight and he could see his breath in the chilly air, he almost felt invisible.

Jungkook liked to live each day watching from afar, he didn't like being the centre of attention and didn't like drama. His friends were always trying to get him to go on dates but relationships were too much drama, proven by the last one and that break up was messy enough to put him off for life. His friends were also keen that he found a different job but ironically, it was thanks to them that he had the job in the first place. Jungkook loves his job, he works in the local cinema and spends most of his shift in the dark which suits him. He has always been interested in movies and every aspect of making them so when Yoongi and Namjoon told him that they'd got him an interview with another friend who was the manager of the large cinema, he was very excited. He gets to watch the latest movies for nothing, he gets to work in relative silence most of the time, sitting in a chair out of the way to make sure everything goes smoothly with the showing. Even when he has to walk from screen to screen with his portable snack bar, it is quite quiet and semi dark. Jungkook likes seeing the whole host of different people who visit the cinema, from families to groups of friends, to those on a date, all sharing their common love of movies.

Jungkook's favourite genre is horror, he loves a good scare and a zombie or three. He's tried his best to get Yoongi in to watch a scary movie but after he ran out screaming during a showing of the old Halloween movie, he hasn't had any luck getting him back in. Yoongi's brother, Hobi is even worse than Yoongi so Jungkook deduced long ago that it was a family thing.

With Halloween season fast approaching, the cinema was being decorated with hanging bats and pumpkins. The staff spent days putting up posters of movies that would be shown with a big emphasis on some old classics that were going to be shown with all of the sequels too. Jungkook sat through the entire Halloween collection last year and he was pleased that it was the turn of SAW this year. The year before was Friday the 13th and before that Paranormal Activity. As well as a collection, they would be showing random horror and sci-fi movies too, as well as any new releases so it was a great time of year for a movie fan like him.

There were often groups of friends that came in at Halloween. Sometimes they would have bets as to which one of their group would be the most scared and Sometimes friends would dare each other to watch a particular movie. That's how he first met Tae.

Halloween season was in full swing and Jungkook was walking through the cinema towards screen 7 that was showing one of his favourite zombie movies. There was a guy loitering outside, Jungkook watched as he moved from movie poster to movie poster, reading each one. The man was a similar height to him, quite broad chested with long legs. His jeans were flared, his jumper was bright green and his hair was bright red. He was a colourful character but something told Jungkook that he didn't want to be where he was right now as he read the same poster for the second time.

"Hello? Erm... are you okay?"

The guy is startled and his face bleeds with a deep blush as he looks at Jungkook. "Oh... Y-yeah... s-sort of."

Jungkook's heart is warmed by the angelic face of the man and how he blinks more than he probably needs to. His bright red fringe covers his forehead and the ends touch his eyelashes which he thinks is probably the reason he blinks so much. "Sort of?"

The man shuffles on his feet as he stands in the wide corridor of the cinema. "It's... it's a d-dare... I don't really w-want to be h-here."

Jungkook smiles softly at the guy, there's something about the innocent look on his face that makes him want to help him. It could also be the fact that he is very attractive but for all Jungkook knows, it could be his partner that has dared him to be here. "Are you here on your own?"
