Fair Hands

Jungkook loved change, he loved new places and new people, new experiences and was the sort of person who looked forward to a new season. His family hadn't been very happy when he quit university and got a job with a local fairground and they were even more displeased when he announced that he was leaving their town to travel with the fair.

Jungkook had been a star in high school, his buzz came from being in all the sports teams and it took him a long while to work out that the attraction with being on all the teams was the fact he got to compete at different schools, sometimes even different towns and meet new people. Once he had worked this out, there was just the need to work out what he was going to do with the rest of his life.

His strength and athleticism was one of his assets when it came to working on the fair. A lot of the rides were operated by machines and hydraulics but there was a lot of lifting and carrying too. He was proud of his body, it took hard work and determination to maintain it but most days, the workout came from doing the job he loved doing so it was hardly taxing.

They had been in the current town for 2 days and he was a little bit smitten by a guy he had seen. He would say that they had met but having only greeted each other briefly, he wouldn't say they had really met at all.

Jungkook was working on the waltzers and had heard his laugh over the noise of the people, looking up to see the most beautiful man he had ever seen. The man, whose hair was bright blue, was laughing, his head back, squeezed into the ride cart with 3 of his friends. Jungkook had been mesmirised, his smile was so bright, all his teeth on show and his big brown eyes sparkled.

He was so busy watching the blue haired man that he had forgotten his surroundings and missed the cue to start the ride. He hadn't taken his eyes off him and was shaken when the man had thanked him at the end of the ride, his deep voice sending vibrations to Jungkook's core.

He knew nothing could come of it, they were only in town for a fortnight and he'd been in this situation before where he had started something with someone and he'd thought they understood he would be leaving but when it came to it, they'd tried to cling onto him and there had been too many tears in the process.

There had been times where guys did get it and were more than happy to have a 2 week relationship because they knew at the end of a fantastic fortnight, there weren't any strings and Jungkook would leave.

Jungkook didn't know which side the blue haired man would take though... he definitely hoped he was the latter option.

The 3rd night and Jungkook had drawn the short straw working on the stall that combined confectionary and a game of skill where the customer has to throw a hoop over a variety of different sized bottles in order to win a prize.

He much preferred working on the rides as he could relax and watch people enjoying themselves, perhaps even laughing quietly at the odd customer who turned green. He reminded himself that he would enjoy it more once he got onto a ride so tonight he would grin and bear it, knowing he would probably get sick of the smell of candy floss by the end of the evening.

Setting up was simple, lots of lugging boxes around and he was relieved once it was all done. Being in the little makeshift tent wasn't helping him to look out for the angelic man with blue hair, even if his hair was bright, the view was restricted.

Jungkook liked it when a little child wanted to try the hoop throwing and he made sure they came away with something, even if it was a small bag of candy. He couldn't resist seeing that smile a child gave when they won, their eyes lit up and they always skipped away.

He was busy swirling a wooden stick around the machine, watching it gather spun sugar, growing until it resembled a sweet cloud, when he noticed the man with blue hair in the queue. He handed over the stick to the customer and served the next couple of people before he was face to face with the man who had kept his mind occupied for the past 2 nights.
