the drop of a single tear onto the picture frame symbolized the past 3 years of algee's life. he had become so numb to the point where he wasn't bawling anymore, he realized there wasn't any point. but he could never be numb enough to where it didn't hurt anymore.

the picture of his gorgeous wife laid on his lap. the woman had been taken from him way too early by cancer. cancer didn't discriminate, not by age, race, gender, not by anything.

everyone would love to believe it could never happen to them, but truth is, cancer could strike anyone. anytime. anywhere.

"kennedy, i swear. i miss you so much." he spoke to his wife like she would respond. he kissed the frame before setting it back on his beside table. the wedding photo sat next to the same bed they used to sleep in together. everything reminded him of her.

even up to her last days she was strong. she didn't give up and ended up being the one to give algee the words of encouragement. including how he had to move on, eventually. in 3 years time he hadn't. he would never stop loving her and could never see himself loving anybody else as much as he loved her.

he didn't take till death do us part literally. death did do them part, but she was forever his wife and never would they separate.

his two and a half year long project he had been working on at work was almost finished. he had a long day ahead of him, so he made his way to sleep.

——

the alarm struck, waking him up early in the morning. life as a genetic engineer was no easy work, at all. but it was a dream of his and he was happy to pursue it.

his morning routine of showing, getting dressed , breakfast accompanied with ridiculously copious amounts of coffee to keep him going, and his long commute to work.

he owned his own company, thus prompting him to work in his own lab. with specific projects like this, he really shouldn't be working alone, but he did anyway. and he had a damn good reason.

well, it was good for him. but for everyone else , not so much and that's exactly why he did it alone.

what he was doing was quite literally , illegal. with the brains he had, he knew nobody would be up for it, and deep down he wasn't either. he knew better.

you see, 6 months after the death of kennedy, he had the crazy idea that he not only could bring her back, he had the idea that he would act on it. so for the past 2 and a half years that's exactly what he's been trying to do.

cloning was still a touchy topic, especially for humans, but the pain was literally eating him alive.

-( this is extremely inaccurate to the real process of cloning, but in order for it to make sense and be interesting, it has to be. this is a science fiction horror , aka not real life. )

he was up so early not to raise any suspicions, being one of the only people in the building besides security, but those dudes could be paid a penny to keep quiet , and money was no issue for him.

the rumbling from inside the cloudy glass chamber his experiment had been taking place in was exciting, it either meant destruction or life. this had all came from a petri dish.
