shawn's pov

"remember to stay indoors, lock your doors and don't go outside unless it's an absolute emergency." the news reporter spoke to millions as my colleague switched the tv in our meeting office. "i'm gina smith, with the abc news, new york. tune in at 6 for more information , channel 7."

"i really don't get it." he shook his head , gathering the bunch of papers off the desk.

something has been plaguing the streets of new york with various attacks, vandalism and murders. new york was really no stranger to crime, especially murder. but the rates were unbelievable.

those cases often went unreported and unsolved. corrupt cops were no joke and i really did want to fix that. not a one man gig though. murder was often an inside job and premeditated. someone knew who was responsible, but nobody is snitching in fear of being next.

"everyone is dismissed." he let us go back to whatever. "wait up, wayans,"  micheals spoke to me.

i turned around, walking towards him instead of leaving the room. "you're our best detective we have. look at this, tell me what you think." he handed me the papers he had just picked up. "we really need to figure this out."

"i got you, man. i won't let you down, or my state." i told him with confidence.

"i trust you."

"2,6,9,10,11,16, 19 out of 20." seven out of twenty newly reported vandalism cases have been done with purple spray paint. evidence pictures labeled under the names two, six, nine, ten , eleven, sixteen, and nineteen.

elements that are so small, like color, may seem irrelevant. but it's no different than gangs and their respective colors. people have things they carry along with them crime to crime. what if this string was up to a new gang or group?

i projected each, examining them. on my white board, i traced over the designs in simple lines. about halfway through i started to notice hidden letters in some of the shapes and designs. b.b seemed to be resurfacing.

my first thought were initials or an acronym maybe.

i noted each one of them down, snapping new pictures and clear documents of what i was seeing.

i have been up non-stop working on this case, day after day, am to pm.

there were about 27 recent murders reported in the same time frame we were looking at. 2 occurred in the same area, respectively.

these weren't hard to connect in the slightest. low income area, prostitution. perfect breeding grounds for serial killers. they often look at sex workers as less human , so police won't investigate. but they got the wrong detective this time.

two young females, both prostitutes. killed within a week of each other. there remains were found approximately 2 miles away from each other . aged 26 and 29. both caucasian. both found with signs of struggle and assault. found clothed in shallow graves.
