chapter 8: Tattoo & Mario Kart

Hayley's pov :

"This could go on forever the scores are even!" I say moving forward and pressing the button on the right hand side.

"We're gonna die by the time one of us wins. The pizza will never arrive-"

"And Phil if he ever gets here with the ice cream." I say laughing. I stepping on the wrong button letting him win.

"Well looks like there's a new DDR king. So for now why dont we play some Mario Kart?" He stepped off the mat and sat on the couch.

"Sure. But if I win you have to show me around London." I said jokingly.

"But what do I get if i win?" He said challenging me.

"I'll pay for pizza for three days." I took Mario Kart out of the box and into the wii. I took the controllers and the wheels out and handed on to Dan.

"Ok. Wait three days? That's not fair!" He exclaimed realizing his mistake.

"You already agreed Dan!" I say teasingly.

"Fine. Now I'm not going to feel bad when I win." He said gripping the wheel.

"Keep dreaming fringe boy." I say with a wink.

After I came in 1st place I could see the shock on Dan's face. "Guess what you're going to show me around London!" I say having a victory dance.

"This game is rigged!! You couldn't have won plus you did flawlessly in rainbow road! Which isn't even possible!!" He says irritated.

"Not unless you've played for years and stayed up till 3 am on school days."

There was a knock at the door making me skip happily to the door.

"Hi! I'm Hayley Ross your new neighbor who beat Dan at Mario Kart!" I tell Phil as I embrace him in a hug.

"Dan...? Is this true??" Phil said amazed while making his way to my fridge to put away the tub of ice cream.

"Yes it's true now let's order pizza im starving." Dan said unhappily.

Phil went to the kitchen to set up the table and as Dan put away the controllers I approached him.

"Hey I was just kidding and if want we can have another rematch with Phil." I tell Dan as he unhappily put away the controls.

"No it's okay." He says as he tries to give me a smile, but fails and instead looks away and keeps putting everything away.

"Now I feel horrible." I say acting defeated.

"Hey i was kidding I'm not upset I've gotten used to it, I let Phil win sometimes and he gets over excited."

"So you let me win?" I say a bit shocked.

"No you did actually win" he said with a smirk.

"You little shit." I say glaring at him. I cracked a smile before turning off the wii.

Laughing we made our way to the kitchen where Phil had set up everything in a matter of miutes and as it turns out he had already ordered the pizza.

"While you two were talking I ordered a pepperoni pizza with a large soda." Phil said kindly. Sweet cinnamon roll.

"Thanks Phil! Could you write down the pizzerias number for me? I have a feeling I'm going to be using it a lot." I say with a smile.

At dinner we chatted and they asked me a lot of questions but the question that took me of guard was Dan's

"So...Hayley are you single?"

Nearly choking on my soda I cleared my throat. "I don't do relationships anymore. Bad experiences."

They nodded their heads as the ate their pizzas.

"Okay well can we play Mario Kart now?" Phil said trying to clear the air.

Giggling I said ,"Yes but don't cry like Dan when I beat you Phil."

"If I win I get the last slice of pizza," said Dan

"Then fight to the death for the last slice of pizza!!" I say taking the control. "But we all know who the real winner is."

"ME!" We all yell out at the same time.

During Mario Kart Dan kept asking me questions like my favorite color, place ,word and things like that. Maybe it was to distract me. But i answered all the questions still fully focused on making it through rainbow road.

But before I could react Dan decided to lay on me to distract me. He's so cheeky but that won't make me lose. Instead of shaking him off I decided to do something that would distract him even more. I licked his cheek. Luckily it worked, he forgot about the game and started at me as if I just commited murder. I laughed too hard but continued in first place.

"She cheated!! She did that to distract me!!" He said as he tried to steer his character onto the road but failed as his character went off the cliff.

"Dan she didn't do anything and she won fair and square!" Said Phil trying to contain his laughter.

"Thank you Phil! And for that I will share half of my pizza with you." I say as Dan looks shocked.

I gave Phil half of my pizza and believe it or not I'm not that mean so I shared it with Dan. Who looked happy that I shared.

"See I'm not all that mean" I say with a wink.
