The Novel: Betrayal (Rewritten)

"Betrayal" is a novel centered on the heroine, the daughter of Count Hotaru. Gifted with a rare light ability, she stands out among her peers, and at 16, she enrolls in the prestigious Magical Academy, where nobles and royalty from different realms gather to study.

At the academy, the heroine encounters two prominent figures: the crown prince of her own kingdom and a prince from the Demon Realm. Both take an interest in her, drawn to her uniqueness and strength.

However, there is another character who plays a pivotal, hidden role in the story: Riku Touma, a half-elf, half-human.

Riku lives on the fringes of society, homeless and struggling to survive. One day, during a festival, the heroine stumbles upon him on the street. Moved by his situation, she offers him food, clothing, and shelter. Touched by her kindness, Riku pledges his loyalty to her, vowing to protect her in any way he can.

Shortly after, Riku transfers to the academy, a mysterious and quiet presence. He speaks to no one but the heroine, whom he now serves as a devoted knight. His aloof nature and fierce loyalty to her create intrigue among the students, but he remains distant from everyone else.

As the heroine becomes more entwined with the academy's royalty, it’s revealed that the demon prince has fallen in love with her. Meanwhile, the crown prince shares a tragic story from his past, mentioning his younger brother, Hiroka Isamu Callisto, who had died two years prior from illness. Hiroka, the second prince, was only briefly mentioned in the novel, used by the crown prince to evoke sympathy from the heroine, as he noticed a similarity between her and his late brother.

As time passes, the heroine draws the attention of many. Envy begins to stir among the other girls, who ridicule her out of jealousy. Yet, she is always protected by her steadfast knight, Riku, and the demon prince who remains by her side.

However, when the heroine turns 18, something unexpected happens. Her kind and gentle personality begins to shift, and the people closest to her notice. Her knight, Riku, is the first to confront her, sensing that something is amiss. In private, the heroine finally reveals her true intentions.

She explains that her actions, her friendships, and even her bond with the crown prince were all part of a larger plan. Her family had long harbored a deep-seated grudge against the royal family.

According to her father, the royalties had stolen power from her grandparents, who were rightful heirs to the throne.

Her father had instilled in her the belief that the crown prince’s family, as well as the Demon Realm, had conspired to rob them of their birthright and that her grandparents' deaths were orchestrated by these very people.

Now, after years of preparation, the heroine seeks revenge. She intends to assassinate the crown prince and expose the alliance between the royals and the demons that, according to her family, led to their downfall.

Riku, upon hearing her story, is torn. He had sworn to protect her and had grown to care for her deeply. Yet, her plan threatens to throw the entire kingdom into chaos. Still loyal, he agrees to aid her, but with hesitation in his heart.

Together, the heroine and her knight set their plot into motion...
