Real love doesn't meet you at your best. It meets you in your mess.

Sky sat on the railing of the Astronomy tower, next to Regulus. After class she had received an anonymous note saying to meet them in the Astronomy tower.

"I'm surprised you showed up." Regulus started.

"I am too."

Regulus turned to look at Sky. "You never told me you were a witch."

"You never told me you were a wizard." Sky shot back. "Guess we all keep secrets."

They sat in silence, having no idea what to talk about. "Were you in Ilvermorny, the American school?" Regulus broke the silence.

"Yup. Its kind of based on Hogwarts actually. A castle, four houses. But I was surprised by the Sorting ceremony here. A moldy old talking hat that is placed on each and every student's head. What if one of them has lice?"

Regulus chuckled. "How was it back in Ilvermorny?"

"Oh, well, instead of being sorted in the Great hall new students get sorted in the Entrance hall. The student has to step in the center of the room, while the older students watch from the banisters. The houses are named after Magical creatures and there are statues of the said creatures. Thunderbird, Pugwudgie, Horned Serpent and Wampus. And if the house wants you they give a sort of sign. If more than one house gives the sign, you get to pick your house. It happened to me. I had to choose between Horned Serpent and Pugwudgie. I chose Horned Serpent because my best friend was sorted there."

Regulus listened to her speak. That was probably the most she'd spoken since she came back from America, but he didn't know that. The Black boy always had a way of bringing Sky out of her 'shell.'

"What about your best friend now?" He questioned.

"Oh, we drifted apart. Happens to the best of friends."

"Tell me about it." Regulus scoffed, thinking of himself and Sirius. They had been very close while growing up but they didn't even talk now.

"Why were you angry when you came into Charms?" Sky asked hesitantly, not wanting to anger him but she was still curious.

"I had a spat," He cleared his throat. "With Sirius."

"Oh. Sucks for you, I guess." She shrugged.

Regulus looked at her incredulously. "Sucks for me? That's all you have to say? Wow, Starry eyes, didn't think you'd be this insensitive."

Sky tilted her head to face him, a small smile making its way onto her pale face. "Starry eyes? Bringing back old nicknames are we, Reggie?" She teased and he groaned.

"No, no, not Reggie! Anything but that. Starry eyes isn't even that bad."

"But Reggie is such a cute nickname! " She retorted, a wide grin on her face. She didn't remember the last time she smiled so much.

"Reg, if you must call me a nickname." He said firmly. Regulus would never admit to anyone that he secretly adored the nickname Sky had given him but only if she called him so.

Sky turned back to face the ground. "Whatever you say Reggie." She pursed her lips as he glared playfully at her.

"Merlin," Regulus sighed. "Why I missed you, I have no idea."

"Ooh, you missed me?" Sky started to tease him again.

"Please shut up."

Sky shrugged, watching the sun go down. "So, how are you? What have you been up to?"

"Meh, not much really. Just life, I guess." He answered vaguely.

Sky hopped off the railing. "Okay, then. I suppose I should leave for dinner."

Regulus nodded. "I'll stay a while."

Sky headed towards the staircase but stopped when Regulus called out to her. "Hey, Sky? Can we be friends?"

Sky gave him a look. "Depends, do you have two hands?" She asked, recalling her conversation with Nicole.

"Um... yeah?"

Sky winked at him and walked down the stairs, her hands in her pockets as she left a confused Regulus behind.

"We should really start on our homework." Nicole said, watching Sky sketch in her book. She seemed lost in her own world, not bothering about anything happening around her. "Sky! Did you hear what I said?"

"No." Sky said bluntly, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear.

"Josh Martin is waving at you."

Sky turned towards the Gryffindor table to find that Josh Martin was indeed waving at her. She waved back and turned to Nicole. "That's like the most we communicate." The blonde stated and the brunette chuckled.

"You said you know Regulus Black as childhood friends, didn't you?" Nicole asked curiously and Sky nodded. "Does that mean you knew Sirius Black too?"

"Oh yeah." Sky said, spooning some soup into her mouth. "I knew Sirius."

"Must explain why he's coming over here."

"What?! " She turned sharply and saw Sirius walking over to her. "Okay, Hogwarts is weird. No one ever paid me so much attention before."

"Hey, Sky."

"Hi Sirius." She greeted him. "What are you doing here?"

"Just wondering if you wanted to hang out later. You know, catch up."

"Okay." Sky shrugged.

"Great." Sirius smirked, walking away.

Nicole watched the interaction with narrowed eyes. "You know, I find it more romantic when the person sends a note telling to meet in the Astronomy tower."

Sky looked at the brunette in shock. "How the hell do you know everything Nicole?! "

Nicole shrugged, crossing her legs and taking a dramatic sip from her glass of water before chocking on it. Sky stifled a laugh as she handed her some tissues but broke into a grin. The brunette rolled her eyes playfully. "Look, I make Sky Greene smile! "

"Shh..." Sky pressed her finger to her lips. "Its ruining my cold-hearted bitch act."

The girls looked at each other in amusement before going back to their dinner. Sky Greene decided that maybe Nicole Jordan wasn't so bad after all. Maybe having friends wasn't so bad after all.
