early in the morning, donghyuck woke up to the smell of delicious cooking. he frowned, as he knew he was late and that his uncle had woken up way earlier than him that made the older cook first without donghyuck. so he huffed.

"uncle?! can you come here?!" he shouted as he tried to stand up by himself but failed as he still felt dizzy when standing up and doesn't know if he's stepping in the right position. he fell again to the bed and pouted.
"uncle johnny??"

"looks like someone's moody this morning." an unexpected voice rang in his ears when he started to stand up again but of course, he failed.

"mark?"

"here, johnny hyung is just cooking some side dishes. you two can cook the main together." donghyuck felt a pair of warm hands circle around his waist to lift him up and were placed on his shoulders afterwards, making him flinch and feel goosebumps tickling his body. he felt himself being led to the kitchen with small steps while his hands reach forwards, not trusting mark that much to be leading him. he was then seated at the dining table as the smell of the cooking got stronger.

"hey, hyuck! ready for our cooking show? mark's here to help us!" johnny said as he saw his nephew all seated and mouth starting to water. he giggled at the ambitious donghyuck who made grabby hands to reach johnny's back and held onto it tightly. he then turned the taller to face him and slapped his chest, face almost making a collision which johnny's upper chest. the uncle chuckled loudly as he saw his nephew getting all worked up just because he wasn't able to wake up early.

"uncle said we'll be cooking together!"

"we will, buddy. i'm just cooking some eggs and we'll go straight to the main dish after this, okay? i promise." he patted the shorther's shoulders who got calm from his words and ruffled his hair.
"now go sit and talk a bit with mark while i plate these and prepare the other ingredients."

donghyuck quickly obeyed and went back to his seat with the help of mark who held him tightly so as to not let him fall. the got seated at the previous seat donghyuck was in and held each other's hands.

one thing that donghyuck noticed about himself is that he will never let anyone around him not hold his hand. maybe because he searches for safety and comfort from the people around him and without it, he would get anxious and think that other people are against him and mock him for who he is now. this time, he wrapped his hands around mark's tightly. he didn't know why, but he can't just be mad at mark eventhough he didn't want to seem too kind to him and trust him that much.

"hyuck! would you prefer using much pepper or not? i'll refill the pepper container." johnny asked from the kitchen a bit loudly so his nephew can hear. he turned his back to see donghyuck leaning onto mark's chest and humming small songs. johnny couldn't help but coo at it.
"a little pepper it is then."

"hyuck looks so comfortable in your hands, doesn't he?" the older asked mark as they walked to the front door. mark just groaned playfully and chuckled, knowing that most likely johnny would tease him for that.

"i guess. now i feel more horrible."

"hm? why so?"

"something in the past that couldn't be changed. he seemed to start to forget it and move on though." mark put his two hands to his pocket and pursed his lips. his words had johnny giggling and shook his head slowly.

"hyuck isn't the person to hold grudges that long, i know him. don't worry, he's already accepting it, so i think you should too, mark. mark my words." johnny covered his mouth with a teasing look on his face.
"see what i did there?"

"oh stop, hyung." mark rolled his eyes at the lame joke johnny had made of his name. but he knew he meant good.
"i will mark your words." he continued and pressed on the word 'mark'. the taller male nodded with a proud smile on his face and stepped behind to be ready to close the door. the two bid their goodbyes and fist-bumped before letting each other disappear from their sights.
