- january 2020, winter

several months have passed since donghyuck's stay at the hospital and he rarely checked his condition ever since. 

he just didn't want to hear the words that could inform him about his permanent blindness as well as other bad news that can lead to none other than sadness. he wanted to feel positive and think that everything will go well. there has to be a way to let donghyuck be able to see again, right? 

he stayed in the house all the time, trying to figure out things with his other 4 senses such as touch, taste, smell, and most importantly, hearing. he noticed that his hearing got slightly sharper because of losing one of his senses and he can hear clearly if someone is coming up the stairs to his room. 

most of the time he would be anxious of who will be coming to his room. but so far, nothing has been out of the ordinary for the young man. until he heard mark and johnny talking to each other in the living room about something that worried him greatly. 

"you said your flight is this saturday night? isn't it dangerous with this weather?"

"i need to, business is business, you know?"

"and you want to leave donghyuck alone? mark, you know i'm busy with work who else should i trust him with if not you?"

"i can't hyung. but there's gotta be someone out there who wants to stay with donghyuck and make him happier. his school friends maybe?"

"mark..."

"i'll come back before you know it, i promise!" he heard a sigh from johnny's side and got infected by it, making him sigh as well. mark is leaving? to where? flight means airplane, which means only one thing: that mark is going somewhere out of the country. to canada maybe? 

donghyuck can't help but feel restless at the thought of mark leaving him again and this time, farther from before. a lot of what ifs ran around his mind in laps. 

he can't let mark leave him, at least not again.

"markie!" donghyuck giggled as he entered the living room, acting like the conversation he overheard was the wind that passed by. he was greeted by a warm hand that wrapped around his and lead him to the couch slowly. he landed with a poof which had him chuckling, bringing up the atmosphere so easily that he himself even forgot about everything that happened before. nevertheless, he knew he had to speak to mark so he won't leave. 

"did you try to go down the stairs alone earlier? that's dangerour, hyuck! you can't do that." donghyuck brought his hands up to mark's lips to shut him, ruffling his fingers around the older's lips and feeling a pout on it. 

"shush, i need to try and learn myself markie. take it as a healing process." 

"how, when you could just stumble and fall and hurt yourself again?" this time mark wrapped his left arm around the younger and tugged the boy close to him. but donghyuck pulled away. 

"i'm already hurt."

"huh?"

"you'll leave me again, right?" although donghyuck was looking forward into darkness, he felt mark's eyes staring at him, maybe shocked eyes even. he then chuckled awkwardly and patted donghyuck's shoulders. 

"it's only for 10 days, hyuckie. don't worry much, alright?" 

"10 days is long, mark. how am i going to survive without you? for 240 hours?  14,400 minutes?!" the pinkette fake cried which mark took it almost seriously and shushed him while ruffling his hair softly. 

"hey hey, we can call everyday, you know? we can still talk then." 

"b-but you'll be busy by then because of work."

"i can spare some time. besides, i don't really enjoy work that much. i can make an excuse to skip it if i call you, hm?" mark leaned in and puckered his lips to place it just for a second on donghyuck's forehead. the younger got tensed for it but giggled when he felt the pair of lips came in contact with his forehead again. he sighed. 

"okay. but call me every single day, okay? if you skip a day, there's no cuddling for a week when you get back." donghyuck crossed his hands and pretended to scold mark who just laughed at the younger's cute behavior. mark admired donghyuck a lot, he had to admit that. 

"okay now, you two. i'll go buy lunch for us and i'll be back in a few hours after work, okay?" johnny came in between them and ruffled the two's hair. they both groaned and giggled in response as johnny left the to his car. mark lead donghyuck to the sofa before locking the front door. 

"so, what do you want to do?" the ravenette asked as he approached donghyuck who was facing front blankly and playing with his fingers. 

"can you sing and play the guitar for me?"
