"𝗶 can't take you with me."
the small peach haired girl frowned as tugged on the white haired woman's coat once more, earning a groan from her. "look, i'm sorry but i can't." the woman stated as she pried the little girl's small hands off of her. "i promise that'll i'll be home early." she added. the young girl pouted before taking a step back, her fuchsia eyes looking down at the floor. her little hands clutched the hem of her shirt tightly, fighting back the tears she wanted to release. the white haired woman sighed softly before placing a hand on to of the young girl's head.
"rio, i'll be right back." she stated, smoothing the girl's soft, peach colored locks. "in the meantime, i want you to relax." she said with a small smile on her face. the small girl slowly nodded her head at the woman's words. the woman nodded her head at her. "last night's leftovers are in the fridge." she said, jabbing her thumb at the kitchen. "and the microwave is right next to it." she added. the peach haired girl nodded her head at her before letting go of the young woman. sada sighed softly as she ran a hand through her white hair. her red eyes wandered over to a clock that hung in the living room, cringing slightly.
"gonna be late..." she muttered, turning around. "i'll be back soon, rio." she said as she opened the door. the peach haired girl nodded her head slowly, her eyes watching the woman close the door as she left. the little girl frowned as a wave of loneliness washed over her.
she really didn't want to be alone.
she hated it.
she turned around and trotted down the hallway, running back into her room and closing the door. she immediately grabbed her comforter, throwing it up and hiding underneath it. "..onster.." the young girl muttered softly before biting her bottom lip. 'you're a worthless monster, rio...' she thought as tears threatened to spill from her big eyes. the young girl fell to her knees as she sobbed, repeating the same words over and over.
-time skip, night time-
"i'm back!" the white haired woman exclaimed as she opened the door to her now shared house. she frowned as she closed her door, confused on why the peach haired girl hasn't ran to her yet. she walked further inside and looked around. "rio?" the woman called out, only to not hear anything. concerned, she walked down the hallway. "rio!" she called out once more, still not receiving a response. her eyes wandered over to the three doors in the hallway. "the bathroom is empty." she muttered, taking note of the open bathroom door. her eyes stopped at her door, frowning.
"i don't think she would b-"
she paused as she heard light snoring coming from the room adjacent from her's. she turned her head to rio's room, which was closed. the white haired woman sighed out of relief as she turned her body fully to face the girl's door. "rio, i'm home!" she exclaimed as she knocked on the door. she frowned as the door didn't open. she reached the door knob and twisted it, opening it. "rii?" she asked as her eyes wandered the dark room. the woman used her hand to locate the light switch, flipping it to turn on the lights.
she let out an audible gasp as she saw the small peach haired girl on the floor wrapped in her purple comforter. she was curled up with her knees close to her chest. sada frowned as she noticed that the little girl's face stained with her dried tears. she let out a solemn sigh before waltzing in the girl's room and kneeling down in front of her. she picked her up and placed the girl on her bed, tucking her in.
"i'm a monster..." the peach haired girl muttered softly with a noticeable frown on her face. sada shook her head at her words, placing a hand on her hair. "i think the complete opposite, kid." she whispered as she toyed with her hair. "besides, i don't think monsters are capable of feeling remorse." she stated. "if anyone's a monster, it's that mother of yours." she scowled.
"that girl is weak. just like her father."
the young woman growled lowly at the black haired woman's words. she couldn't help but feel angry for the girl. she didn't ask to be apart of that woman's underground organization and be forced to kill thousands at such a young age.
sada knew that rio didn't deserve that life.
she didn't deserve that life at all.
letting out a sigh, the white haired woman stood up and walked back to the door. she paused, taking a glance back at the sleeping girl on the bed.
"rio." she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "if only you knew that i would give the world and more to you just so i can see you smile..." she muttered lowly before turning off the lights and walking out of her room, closing it behind her.
