The next morning Emily went straight to Jonah's medical tent. He wasn't up yet and seemed to be just fine so she went to Pedro's tent. "Hi" came a raspy voice. "Don't talk." Emily said while in the process of preparing a glass of water for Pedro. "Do you care if I asked what happened or is it to soon?" Emily asked handing the glass of water to Pedro. "This is coming from the person who just told me to not talk." Pedro said smiling. "Goodpoint. You can talk now, that is unless it hurts." Emily said smiling back. "It doesn't. And yes I'll tell you." there was a pause and then the truth about the fire was revieled. "On my way to the devo my father asked me where I was going and I told him how I had excepted Christ and how it was the best decision of my life. He pushed me up against the wall and kept yelling at me and so I struggled to get away and i knocked a candle on to the floor.... Nobody noticed the fire until it was too late." Pedro looked down.
"If you blame me for what happened to Jonah I don't bl...." Emily cut him off. "okay stop talking now." They smiled at eachother. "Yeah its going to leave some scars but if it happened it was for a readon and I'm not going to question why it happened but I'm going to make the best of it and you know what? It helped me to decide to become a nurse." Pedro and Emily talked for a while and then Emily went to check on Jonah.
"Hey there." Jonah said as Emily walked into the tent. "Thought you would never come I've been up for ten whole minutes." Jonah said smiling. " I was talking to Pedro and I found out what caused the fire but I think he should tell you.but....." Emily said fading off. "But what?" Jonah asked. A shadow of concern on his face. "but he thinks it's his fault your in this condition." "You told him it wasn't right? You told him that it was my choice to enter the fire." Jonah said quickly. "Yes,yes I told him though I don't think he wants to believe me." Emily said. "Why wouldn't he?" Jonah asked. "Because he's the one who started the fire though it was an accident." Emily said trying to tell Jonah why Pedro blamed himself without telling him the whole story. Jonah just looked down thinking.
"Is there a way I can talk to him before we leave." Jonah asked with determination on his face. Emily had completly forgotten that they leaved in two days and neither Pedro nor Jonah would recover by then. " I don't know." Emily said thinking. She could tell this meant a lot to Jonah. "I'll talk to the nurses and try to figure something out." Emily said getting up. "Thanks Em." Jonah said with a big smile. "I don't know how I could have made it through this trip without you." Emily smiled back. " and I don't know how I could have made it without you."
