Paula's POV

I groaned as I sat up from the bed I was sleeping on. The twins were still asleep and I had no plans on interrupting them. They needed rest especially now their therapy was scheduled to start this afternoon. I checked my phone and it's almost 6 in the morning, just in time for some good run around the vineyard. So I decided to put on my sports bra, leggings, and some running shoes.

Just as I went out the master room, Kyle was walking up to me, also in his workout clothes.

"Oooh, perfect timing!" He squeezed me into a hug. "Come with me before we run."

I let him drag me. It took a few seconds to realize that we are heading to Jackie's room.

"This is gonna be fun, just wait and see," he quietly yet excitedly announced before knocking on Jackie's door.

"Hey, Jack!" Kyle loudly called for her. "Open up!"

"Whaaaat?" Jackie groaned. "Wait a sec."

Kyle was just beaming at me. I was curious and excited to know what this was all about. As much as I wanted to know right away, I didn't want to ruin the suspense.

"What do you want, Kyle? It's still too early." Jackie greeted us as she opened the door, rubbing her eyes. She was only in her undies.

Kyle and I came into her room, we didn't need her permission to come. The three of us were way past our friendship for such manners.

"Get dressed we're going on a run." Kyle gestured his hand all over Jackie's sleepwear choice.

"I'm not going, you guys run. I still want to sleep."

"Hmm," Kyle replied mischievously. "Is it you don't want to run? Or you can't?"

"What? I can, Kyle but not now," Jackie let herself fall with her stomach on the bed.

"Why? Were you up all night?" Kyle asked playfully.

"No, I just needed more time in bed," Jackie answered lazily.

"Oh, I bet you do," he teased as he sat on the bed beside Jackie

"What now?" Jackie lifted her head up to look at Kyle. I was just an audience.

"Well, Paula and Jackie, I have a little story. I am absolutely certain that this very room is haunted," he trailed off.

Jackie and I just looked at him, confused.

"Last night, I am about to go down to the kitchen to fetch some water. So I was walking gracefully, like a queen as always," he stood up to demonstrate his catwalk, "down this hallway when I was stunned, stopped on my tracks when I saw a shadow shaped like a man leave right this very door." He stopped and pointed Jackie's bedroom door.

"Being the brave soul goddess that I am, I came closer. I saw the shadow fixing his belt and his hair. And when he saw me, he stopped and winked at me. And when he walked right past me, he whispered, 'you saw nothing'."

"KYLE!!!" Jackie immediately picked up what the story was about. And I did, too. But I gotta hear the rest of the story.

"Jackie, shh," I stopped Jackie, snickering, "the story isn't finished. I like where this is going."

Kyle smiled at me and continued.

"So I went down, had my glass of water. I poured another glass to bring into my room. And when I walked down this hallway again, I heard voices right by this wall; not just voices, also some furnitures were apparently moving. So I leaned in to hear what it was."
