Paula's POV
The day went by smoothly. Ironically, having to work and get my mind occupied relaxed me. I preferred it more than overthinking to problems I do not know how to solve yet.
I clocked out to work and drove the company car home, usually Kyle got to use it. Mr. Ty let me use it for now. On my way home, the 'men' problems filled my mind. Too many fucking questions unanswered.
One at a time. Let's deal with Ian first, I'll deal with those two delicious bastards when their project resumes.
Okay, Paula. Approach it like an engineer you are, scientifically, like we used to do back in college. It never failed before, it won't now.
First: Identification of the problem. Ian's broke. And our plan for next year might not come through because of that. And he won't fucking tell me. So two major questions, how broke is he? And why didn't he tell me?
Second: Background research. I only had an initial information from Kyle. And as much as I wanted them to get Ian's folder for me, I can't. I just have to find some more for myself. If I have to break into his apartment or be a needy and clingy bitch to him, so be it.
Third: Hypothesis. Well, initial assumption why he's broke was because he owed someone bigtime or he was robbed. Nothing else. Worst case, wedding and house for next year will be postponed.
Fourth: Experiment. Okay, so I need to see how broke he is. Let's start with a nice dinner tonight, and I'll go from there. Then some shopping and vacations maybe. We'll definitely see.
Fifth: Analyze data and conclusion. I'll confront him once I've had enough evidences.
Okay, baby steps for now.
I dialed him before I got home, "hey, baby," I greeted him once he answered my call, "wanna eat somewhere tonight? I know a great place."
"Yeah, sure," he replied, "can you stop by my apartment, get me a new pair of clothes and come pick me up at the office? I didn't got a chance to go home and shower. This fucking project was chewing my ass. The big bosses want it done until tomorrow night when they arrive."
"Big bosses?" I asked. Christ, no.
"Yeah, my superior told me they bought off the largest share of the company last year and they wanted to handle the company now," he explained, "gotta make a good first impression."
Huh, last year. So it really was a coincidence that they bought the company but definitely not a coincidence from last night's call from Marco and work emergency for Ian.
"Who are they?" I asked again. Please, God, no. Though I exactly knew where this conversation was going.
"Some Dawson, Davidson, David-dawson," he chuckled, "I can't exactly remember their names, baby. But they were brothers. Why'd you ask?"
"Nothing," I answered hurriedly, "I just thought Freyr Securities is one successful company already, it doesn't need any more handling from some foreign bastards." I spat at the mention of the twins unintentionally.
"Woah, baby," he replied, "where did that come from?"
Shit. I shouldn't have been too emotional on my comment.
"Oh, uhm, well, they're keeping you from me," I forced a laugh. Not what I initially thought but that reason might work out well.
"I know," he sadly said. "Well, tonight, let's have dinner and have a good time then I'll go back here and finish this shit."
