Marco's POV

I fluttered my eyes open, my eyes hurt a little as the light welcomed my senses. I was in a different, unfamiliar room.  There were tubes connecting from a bag of fluid down to my arm.

"Paula," I mumbled as I tried to move my body. But I was too weak.

"Sir," a female voice spoke and rushed to me.

"Paula," I called again. Louder this time.

"Sir, don't try to move," the voice spoke again as she pushed my body back to bed.

"You're not Paula," I spat, "bring her to me."

"But sir, you need to rest, I alerted the doctor to check on you now, he's on his way."

"Fuck off!" I shouted as I removed her grasp from my shoulder, "I said bring Paula to me!"

"B—,"

"Are you fucking deaf?!" I looked at her straight in her eyes, full of anger. "GET. PAULA. NOW!"

"R-right away, sir." She meekly replied and went out the door.

"That poor girl," suddenly a voice so familiar to me came to my senses. I turned to see that Mason was also on a hospital bed with machines and tubes attached to him. He was gauzed by his right eye.

"W-what happened to you?" I asked, not minding his comment about the nurse.

As far as I remembered, I was dragged out of the lighthouse, screaming and thrashing as the medics rushed me to the vehicle. I had no idea what happened inside further.

"Half blind, that's for sure," he replied and gave me a smirk, which I didn't find funny at all. I had to know what happened.

"Oh, my god," the sweetest, yet breaking voice spoke by the door.

I lifted my head from the pillow and saw the most beautiful sunshine I have ever laid my eyes upon.

I didn't know how long Mason and I was out, but I was damn sure that I miss the touch and warmth of the woman I love. And when she came, she kissed both us countless times as she weeped happily.

"You got me so scared," she lightly punched us both making us both groan and chuckle.

She then shed light on what happened after I was rescued.

And this room we were staying in was one of the two master rooms of the vineyard far out in the country we had bought years back before mum died. This was supposed to be our permanent home when we retire and be with our only living parent then. It was ready for mum's move in but unfortunately, this place was left abandoned when we knew she died. We never had the strength to go here, neither sell it.

Mason and I had to almost die for us to come and move here.

For days, Paula stayed all day and all night with us. We managed to squeeze a bed in between mine and Mason's. It was Paula's bed temporarily while we still can't move. My brother and I decided that we can't go on another day or night without Paula beside us.

She was crying every now and then when she stares at our state.

"Love," I reached my good hand to her face as she was sitting on her bed, "stop crying, we're almost recovered."

"But it hurts seeing you both like this," she sniffed.

"Soon enough we'll be okay. The doctor said we can start the physical therapy in the next few days."

"And when we fully recovered, make sure you too are well enough to take us," Mason reached for Paula's wrist.

"Mason!" Paula gave him a warning look.
