In the morning, Keflar told Akoen and Lokiel about the new addition to their group. "This is Tanith, she would like to come with us on the quest. She followed us from Akiet because she would've tried out to go on the quest, but only men could go, so she decided to pack her bags and follow us," Keflar explained.
"Ah, I see, she can stay," Akoen said, eyeing her, he had never seen such a beautiful lady.
"Oh thank you for letting me stay!" Tanith said cheerfully.
"Ah, well we definitely don't want you to walk back to Akiet now, right?" Akoen said and with that they continued on their route.
It was maybe four hours from daybreak when they finally became hungry. "I'm hungry, can we rest here for a bit?" Lokiel asked.
"Um, yeah, sure," Akoen said. They had just started eating when something jumped out of the shadows and attacked Tanith. Tanith managed a muffled cry before disappearing from the men's view. "Oh no! A monster took Tanith!" Lokiel exclaimed.
"Good riddance," Keflar muttered.
"What do you mean, she is part of our team and we will not leave anyone behind, we have to go after her and the monster!" Akoen said.
Keflar groaned "Fine," and they chased after the monster. The three wandered into the forest in hopes of finding Tanith.
"Hey, I think I found something," Akoen said, Lokiel and Keflar came over to see what Akoen had found. It was a cave. "Maybe the monster lives in this cave," Akoen said and wandered into the mysterious cave. It was very dark, so Keflar went outside and came back with a branch with a fire on the tip.
"Here, now we can see properly in here," Keflar said.
"Thanks, now look for any clues that might hint that this is truly the monster's home," Akoen said.
"How about the muffled screams coming from down there?" Lokiel said and ran down.
"Wait Lokiel!" Akoen said but it was too late, the monster had set up a trap in which Lokiel was now stuck in.
"Ah, what do we have here?" said the monster, now clear that it was a cyclop's voice because of all the weapons and the hideous creature with one eye now walking towards Lokiel.
"Looks like a hu-ow! Who was that?" said the cyclops, Akoen had snuck up behind the cyclops. The cyclops turned around and brought out a sword.
"Bad choice," said Akoen, bringing out his sword.
"Ah, why is that?" the cyclops asked excitedly.
"Because I'm the best swordsman around," said Akoen.
"Well then looks like I have a challenge," the cyclops sneered with a slash and quick jab. Akoen ducked and feinted to the right then slashed at the cyclop's eye, Akoen hit his target and the cyclops stumbled back holding his eye.
"Ow! Now you have really angered me!" the cyclops said, charging back. Akoen simply stepped aside and hit the back of the cyclops with the butt of his sword, making the cyclops run into a bunch of swords, which stabbed its gruesome body. The three found Tanith unconscious at the back of the cave. Lokiel found some healing herbs close by and used it to bring Tanith back to conscious.
While the group was at the cave they had gathered some supplies from the cave and continued on their route.
"Well, that just delayed us," said Keflar.
"That's okay," Akoen said, "We will just pick up our pace."
