Before I headed to the studio, Zara and I sat on the balcony, admiring the sunset and the view of my backyard. The Hollywood Hills looked divine and it was something I cherished seeing on a daily basis.
"Devon might as well be awarded manager of the year, am I right?" Zara said, right after I informed her about what happened the day prior.
She was excited that I'd be finally working on Pull Up again. She already swore it was in the top three songs from my album.
"Come on now, why you quiet?" she said, before sipping on her cocktail.
"He's always right, I guess," I said, proceeding to take a hit of the blunt that rested in between my index and middle finger.
There was a brief silence between the both of us before a sneaky smirk grew on her face. That earned an immediate eyebrow raise from me.
"So tell me, , are you going to let him slide?" She winked at me while keeping the same sneaky smirk on her face.
I furrowed my eyes at her in confusion, "Slide where?"
"You know," she winked again, "Now that you'll be working with $killz and all, don't you think you want a piece of him? Just a little taste?"
I furrowed my brows even more, giving her a side eye, "You're really asking me if I'm thinking of fucking him? You must have lost your damn mind."
"Don't act like he ain't fine."
"Him being fine has nothing to do with anything. First of all, you already know I've been on a break from all that. And secondly, even if I wasn't I wouldn't do him. Especially with the number of hoes he's probably screwing."
She let out a surprised laugh, "You're petty, you know that?"
"I'm just saying it like it is," I shrugged, "imagine lacking in these streets with a rapper, especially him. They try to downplay their ways, but they're easily the biggest hoes in the industry."
"Not when NBA players exist," she shook her head, sipping on her cocktail. She seemed to be having a flashback.
I wasn't going to disagree with her, because she knew it first-hand.
She had dated two of the best players in the NBA league and they both did her dirty. My first encounter with Zara actually took place at a basketball game several years ago, where she had gone to cheer on her then-boyfriend, Kato Anderson. That son of a bitch. Despite his infidelity and fathering a child with someone else, at least she could attribute our friendship to that past relationship. Then her second relationship was equally as bad, because not only did he also cheat, but she caught him in the act.
