Day.

In my head, I had come to my conclusion of why his nickname suited him. It could've easily been shortened to Dave, but there was just something about Day that made sense.

Days were usually bright, warm and full of livelihood and that's probably how I viewed him for the short amount of time he had already been at my place.

We were seated at my kitchen island, eating the salmon lasagna rolls I had prepared for the both of us.

"But enough about me..." I said, changing the conversation, "Tell me about you."

He ate a forkful of his food, "Okay, The full name's David Argento, I'm twenty-seven and I grew up in the Bronx for the first five years of my life, then my mom and I moved to LA."

"Argento? You're out here walking around with an Italian last name?" I said, twisting my head to the side. The only way I knew the origin of his last name was because I had heard it in an Italian drama series my mom watched years ago.

"My dad was Italian, so yeah," he let out a laugh.

When he said the word 'was', that already told me that his dad had passed on.

"And your mom?"

"She's Jamaican. I love her to death," he said with a wide smile.

"That's sweet," I remarked, "you must have a great relationship with her."

"Yeah, she's my queen, for real."

I ate my food and took a sip of my drink, "So what do you like to do?"

"For fun? Or work?"

"For fun, of course. What you do for work is none of my business," I chuckled. I feel like that's one question I never outright asked anyone. It felt weird, considering what I did for work. The question coming from me sometimes came off the wrong way.

"It's not like I'd mind telling you, ma." He responded, "Photography. For fun and work."

I wasn't expecting that "photography? What's your IG handle? I want to see," I asked, pulling out my phone.

"Day Argento photography," he said, before sipping on his drink.

I typed a few letters of his username before his account came up. When it popped up, the page with nearly one-hundred thousand followers caught me by surprise. I followed the page and scrolled down his feed.

His work was excellent and I was already a fan of the quality and colour grading of the images

His work was excellent and I was already a fan of the quality and colour grading of the images. It was mostly portrait-styled photos, reminiscent of high school yearbook images. Those were the ones I liked the most. Then he also had candid-styled and behind-the-scenes images,

"Wow, these look very good," I complimented him as he leaned to get a look at my screen.

"Thank you. I appreciate it," he said.
