A beautiful bouquet in a white box with a large red bow.

That's what I was met with as soon as I opened my eyes and basked in the morning light. The red roses contrasted the white bedside table, emitting a heavenly fragrance.

Smart of him to get roses. All I had to do was post them and show social media the so-called aftermath of how we "celebrated" our wins the night prior.

I grabbed my phone, snapped a picture of the roses and posted them to my story with my song of choice being "Snooze" by SZA. After doing that, I caught up with all the messages I had gotten. I first responded to all my congratulatory messages before moving on to a message I had received from Day.

I hadn't seen him in quite some time and my busy schedule was to blame for that, but at least I still kept in touch. I'd check on him, he'd check on me and we'd have brief conversations.

Good Morning and Congratulations! We should celebrate!🎉 🥂 Are you free today?

I smiled at the text.

Thank you🥹 Yes, I have no plans. What did you have in mind?

Is taking you out now an option?

I gazed at the message for some time. Several minutes had elapsed since I had read it, and that earned a phone call from him. I picked up the call but remained quiet, anticipating what he would say.

A smile was fixed on my face.

"I'm guessing you're conflicted. You probably want to agree, but you don't know how to," he confidently assumed.

"Don't flatter yourself, David," I chuckled. He was indeed correct. I just couldn't let him know that. He didn't have to.

Yes, I didn't know how to agree. I'm very positive he respected my decision for us to keep it at friends, but I'd hate to take decisions that gave him mixed signals. But then again, friends hanging out was normal, right? A very normal thing.

"So what's your response?"

It was obviously a "yes" and I couldn't believe I was about to take him up on his offer.

"Fine... Let's do it," I sighed.

"And she agrees," he let out a laugh of excitement, but I held my finger up as if he could see me.

"On one condition, though," I interjected, "Can it be somewhere maybe private? Indoors?"

"Taking you out indoors?" He asked, but as soon as I was about to explain myself, he spoke again, "Okay, I understand. Don't worry, I got you."

I mentally sighed in relief.

"Uh... so time are we meeting up?" I asked him

"I'll come to pick you up in about two hours."

"I'm not at home right now, but I'll be heading home soon."

"That's cool," he assured me, "I'll pick you up from there."

"Okay, I'll see you."

"I'll see you then, Hollie. Wear something comfortable and pack extra clothes."

"Extra clothes?"

"Yes," he responded, "comfortable as well."

"Okay, cool. I'll see you."

After ending the call, I began preparing myself for the day ahead. I felt a sense of anxiety because I had no clue about what the day had in store for me. However, it was a good kind of anxiousness. It was similar to the feeling you get when someone proposes to take you somewhere and you are curious to know the destination.
