When it Drizzles
23

It has been sixty days since Ashok has been in jail. Kiran has come to talk to Anand and Archana about applying for bail again. On the way home, he stopped the car and bought strawberries and mangoes that Anu likes. He was a little late in arriving due to a traffic block.

The doorbell rang and it was Anu who opened the door.

Kiran smiled when she saw Anu.

She also smiled.

Kiran's eyes widened in surprise.

Anu smiled for the first time when she saw him.

Kiran felt like jumping with joy.

Kiran looked down into the yard.

"Oh my God, today the crow will fly upside down. Or it will rain with thunder. This is the first time you have smiled at me. Is there any more wonderful thing than this?"

Hearing that, Anu smiled again.

Anu told Kiran that nobody is at home. But he teased Anu.

" If nobody is at home who is standing in front of me? Are you a ghost?”

Unexpectedly, Anu gave her first laugh to him.  Kiran reached top of the world by seeing it. He again teased her;

" I never thought that make you smile is this much easy. How can you smile for my substandard joke?”

Again, she laughed.

Then, her second sentence towards him came out of her mouth;

"Are you waiting or going?”

Kiran understood, she was asking him to wait for Anand or to leave.

He replied;

"Always ready to wait, waiting for years, still waiting, willing to wait in future too.”

Anu’s face changed.

He got excited, and said;

"Anu I really wanted to record your first talk to me. But I never expected it today, so was not prepared. I missed it. I couldn't record it".

She asked;

"Why are you this much crazy? Wait here as a good boy. Or leave. Please don't come to talk to me. I am scared of everyone now".

Kiran got disappointed. He had done this much for her. But still, she is pushing him away.

He said;

"Ok. I know, I am annoying you. I don't want to disturb you. I will come back to see Nandu. Just inform him about my visit. We need to discuss about the case. I am leaving.  Close the door properly, don't open the door to strangers. Be careful".

Kiran turned to leave, suddenly Anu caught his arm, and called;

“Kiranetta…”

His eyes filled with tears.  For this call from her he waited for years.  Today he got her first smile, first talk and first touch too.

“I forgot to take a lottery.  If I would take one lottery, today definitely I would win it. I got your first smile, first talk and first touch today.”

Quickly Anu released Kiran’s hand.  Kiran looked at Anu with tears in his eyes.

"Oh, Kiranetta, are you crying? Forgive me. Kiranettan is not a nuisance to me. I don't get close to men like that. I'm only close to my father and Nandettan. Then I was afraid of Kiranettan's approach. I'm not used to it. It's not because I'm angry that I've been silent since Kiranettan came here. It's because my mood isn't right."
