When it Drizzles
18

They started living in a single room in Chennai like a bird's nest. Yet, that world with just the two of them was heaven. They rented a small house in America. They worked part-time to pay the rent.

When the course was almost over, Archana became pregnant. They had left for America after entrusting their clinic in Chennai to a friend. Therefore, when Asok returned to Chennai with the pregnant Archana, there was no problem with work.

Archana gave birth to Anand. During this time, Asok had a secret messenger to inform Asok about the news of Asok's hometown. He would also inform them about Archana's home. After a while, the messenger stopped giving information. Asok and Archana didn't understand what had happened to him. With that they lost all ties with their native place.

Anamika arrived in their world, where only Asok, Archana, and Anand lived. With that, Asok sold everything he had in Chennai and returned to Kerala with Archana and their children. They settled in Fort Kochi. They set up a clinic. There they built Little Heaven.

And they knew that Asok's grandfather already done "padiyadachu pindam vaykkal "for Asok ( declaring a living person as dead by doing some after death ritual to that soul. Doing by that, the above said person will lose every right from the family.  It was common in Kerala. Existed in higher class families). But it was an ancient custom. Asok and Archana didn't expect it from his family. After all it was Gopala Menon. He had to keep his pride in society.

But atleast Archana and Asok relieved that they are safe. If his family declared Asok as dead, it means they were not going to chase them. They stopped chasing. Archana and Asok thought like that.

”Now it is twenty seven years. If they wanted to ruin our life, they could have to do it before. Now why are they punishing our innocent children? Other than Asok's family we never had any enemy.  And still, I don't know, who is behind this?”

Archana wept herself.

“Ashokettan's grandfather had two children. Ashokettan's father was Raghu Nanda Menon and Ashokettan's father was Radhika Menon. Ashokettan had three sisters. The eldest was Uma and the second was Rama. Uma was my age. Rama was two years younger than me. Bhama was the youngest. Ashokettan had never even met her. Because she was almost Anand's age. She was born when my father and mother were old. She was born after Ashokettan and I ran away. We came to know all this information through our secret messenger. None of these people will come to hold a grudge against us after all these years. Our messenger has not had any contact with us for years. We don't know what happened. We have no other enemies except these people. Then who is so angry with my Ashokettan and us?”

Archana told Subhadra.

Her memory scattered like raindrops. Her eyes were always wet. But no falling tears.

Like, an interval of monsoon rain, which left rain drops as its marks.

While Archana was lost in thought at home, the unknown man who had gone to visit Ashok in the prison far away was also lost in thought.

”At last, that day came. I waited so long for these days. Last two decades, other than revenge, nothing was in my mind. I wanted to destroy their lives as they did to me. I wanted to see them lose everything as I lost. I wanted to smash their dignity as they did to me. I have done a lot, still I am not satisfied. But the climax is nearing. I am so excited to see the defeated Asok's face. The Grand Son of Demon king Gopala Menon. This is my revenge to his whole family. I targeted each and every one in their family. And Asok is the last one. One more is left. But still, it is a mystery! I don’t know where that person gone. I know I can unfold that mystery too. This is what I am living for. Revenge! Just revenge.”
