When Love Lasts x Jemily

Chapter 9

Emily pov:
I was sitting on back of an ambulance while a paramedic bandaged my face. "Are you done?" I asked for the fifth time. I wanted to go and see JJ.

"No." He said reaching back into the truck to grab something. "Well I say we're done." I said. Getting up. I walked over to the ambulance where JJ was.

Another paramedic was finishing putting patching up her face. The paramedic left and I sat next to JJ.

*flashback to almost 5 months ago*
The rain was pouring down outside. JJ was sitting on the couch fidgeting with her hands. "Hey what's wrong?" I asked her.

She didn't say anything. "No no no I need to go." She said getting up. She ran outside into the pouring rain. "JJ it's cold out here come back inside!" I yelled as I rain after her.

We were both getting soaking wet as the rain beat down. "NO" she screamed. "JJ what the hell has gotten into you?" I screamed.

Her face was soaked with rain but I could tell that she was crying. "I.. I don't want to do this anymore. I don't love you anymore." She screamed.

I thought that my heart had actually shattered into a million pieces. "What?" I croaked.

"I want to break up." She said. Tears started to fall down my face. "I don- I don't get it." I said. I thought that we were fine.

She ran over to me and kissed me. I felt her tears falling down onto my face. "Goodbye Emily." She said as she ran out to her car. And then she never came back.
*end of flashback*

After we had broken up I dreaded going to work. But whenever I saw JJ she always had that necklace on. Always. I didn't understand.

"JJ I don't get it. You broke up with me. Why did you do it?" I asked her.

"I'm sorry." She mumbled. "It's a really long story."

"We have time don't we?" I said. "Okay it started about 5 months ago."

*flashback to 5 months ago*
JJ's pov:
My mom was coming in to visit for a few days. My mom and I had never gotten along well. I hadn't talked to her since I moved out almost 10 years ago. But she told me she wanted to meet for lunch.

I had decided that I was going to tell her about me and Emily. I had no idea how she was going to react but she was my mother. I couldn't lie to her face.

We sat down across from each other at a small restaurant in the city. We made awkward small talk for about 10 minutes until she finally asked me the question I was afraid of. "So are you seeing anyone?" Sandy asked me.

"Uh yeah I am." I responded. "Oh that's good. What's his name?" She asked.

"Um well her name is Emily. She works at the bau." I said it all very quickly. I looked up at her and she had a horrified look on her face. "You're seeing, a woman?" She asked in disbelief. "Jennifer Jareau I can't believe you. This is unacceptable." She said angrily.

"But mom I-" she cut me off. "No I don't want to here it! You will break up with her immediately!" She roared. "No! I love her!" I cried.

"No you don't. You have no idea what you are talking about. You are committing a sin! And if you don't break up with her you will no longer be my daughter" she said with rage in her voice.

I couldn't believe her. I loved Emily. My heart felt like it had just been crushed. But she was my mom. "Okay. I will." I said chocking back my tears. I got up and left.
*end of flashback*

Emily's pov:
"So that's what happened?" I asked JJ. She nodded her head as tears fell from her face. "I never should have listened to her. I'm sorry I never should have broken up with you. I'm sorry Emily." She cried.

I pulled her closer to me hugging her. "It's okay. Your mom shouldn't have done that. Moms are supposed to love you unconditionally no matter what." I said rocking back and forth.

"I'm still in love with you Emily. Please forgive me." She said. "I love you too baby. Of course I forgive you." I said. I pulled her face up to mine and kissed her gently.

"Move in with me." I said. "What?" JJ says. "We basically lived together before. It worked out great. So move in with me." I said.

"Okay. Okay let's do it." JJ said with a smile. "I get to see you when I go to sleep and then when I wake up." She grinned. "Yup and then you can see me when we watch tv, or when I make you breakfast, or whenever the hell you want to." I grinned.

JJ was gripping my waist and smiling like crazy. Then Jess ran over. "Emily are you okay?" She cried. "Yes thank you Jess I'm fine." I said.

JJ was still smiling when the rest of the team came over. "Hey look Pennsylvania petite and the princess are attached at the hip again. Fight over?" Derek laughed.

The team still didn't know that we were dating but they realized that we were fighting when JJ stopped spending every minute with me. I held JJ closer to me and smiled. "It's called making up for lost time." I laughed.

"So what happened in there?" Tara asked. "We got video footage but there was no sound."

JJ just shrugged her shoulders. "We played truth or dare." I smiled. "Truth or dare?" Spencer asked. "Yeah." I shrugged.

JJ and I were finally home and it was almost 9pm. "Welcome home." I smiled. JJ kissed me and I wrapped my arms around her. "So are you hungry? Do you want to take a bath?" I asked her.

She looked panicked when I said that. "JJ I'm going to run you a bath" I said taking hand and walking upstairs.

When we were in the bedroom I looked at her. I hadn't been able to check her wrists once we broke up. "JJ take off your shirt." I said. She shook her head no.

She tugged at her sleeves trying to make them longer. I sat down on the floor leaning my back against the bed. "Come here." I said. "Sweetie come here." I said motioning with my hand.

She sat next to me and I let her crawl into my lap. I wrapped my arms around her and held her. "My sweet girl." I whispered tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

"I just got you back and I don't want you to be gone again" JJ cried. "Why would I be gone?" I asked her. "Because you'll be mad at me." She whispered.

"Baby I'm not going to be mad at you. I promise." I said stroking her hair.

"Can you take off your shirt please." I said softly. Slowly she sits up and pulls the shirt over her head. When she does I'm able to see the red cuts that cover both of her wrists and her stomach.

She bursts into tears. Some of them look only a few days old. I pull her into a hug wrapping my arms around her bare skin.

I get up and turn on the water in the bathtub. "Stay with me?" JJ asks me. "Okay." I said kissing her forehead.

JJ takes off her clothes and climbs into the bathtub. I take off mine and then get in behind her.

She leans back into me and closes her eyes. My hands snake around her waist as she looks up to kiss me.

After awhile we get out. I help JJ change into pyjamas and then get dressed myself. I climb into bed after JJ and turn on the tv. "What do you want to watch?" I ask her. "You pick." She smiles. We end up watching some cheesy soap opera for a few hours and then turning it off to go to sleep.

"Good night JJ." I whispered kissing the top of her head. "Good night Emily." JJ smiles before closing her eyes.
