Emily's pov:
I woke up early at around 5 am. I'm a light sleeper. I look around to see what woke me up. Then I realized. Someone was banging on the door.

I didn't want to wake JJ. I grabbed my gun just in case and walked over to the door. I looked to the other side of the door and saw the one person I did not want to see. My mother.

Reluctantly I opened the door. "Nice of you to finely open it." She says rolling her eyes. She looks down to the gun in my hand. "What we're you going to shoot your own mother?" She scoffs.

"Oh I've thought about it." I said under my breath. "What was that?" She said. "Nothing." I fake smiled. I went to put my gun back in the safe.

"Mother it's 5am what are you doing here?" I say. "So it's a crime to visit your own daughter?" She laughs. "Just tell me." I roll my eyes.

"Well I was in the states and I have a surprise for you." She said. This can not be good. "Please. Enlighten me." I said.

"I met a very fine young man and I've set up a date for the two of you." She said.

Oh. My. God. I can not believe her. I haven't talked to the woman in like 10 years and now she wants to set me up with some lackey she met? She cannot be serious.

"Tell me you're joking." I say angrily. "No. I want you to go to dinner with him. He's a very good man." She said.

"Well mother I thank you for the... offer, but I'm going to have to say no." I say hoping that she'll just accept it and leave. But of course that won't happen.

"Why not? It's not like you're seeing anyone." She says with a scoff.

"Actually for your information I am seeing someone. I'm getting married in a month and a half." I say with a proud grin.

My mother looks like she just got hit with a truck. "You're getting what?" She shouts. "And you didn't tell me? You didn't even invite me?"

"Well I didn't invite you because I knew you wouldn't approve so what's the point. Now would you stop screaming." I say.

"This is unacceptable! And I've never even met this man? What's his name?" She screams completely ignoring my request for her to keep it down.

"God would you keep it down my fiancé is sleeping upstairs." I say trying to hide a tiny smile. I honestly like the fact that my mother can't control me anymore. Watching her try is pretty funny.

"He's here?" Right now?" She asks me. "Yes." I say simply.

As if on que, JJ walks down the steps rubbing her eyes. Shes wearing an oversized T-shirt and shorts and her hair is messy in a perfect way.

"What's going on?" She says sleepily walking towards me. I kiss her gently and then hold onto her waist standing slightly in front of her so she's not right in front of my mother. Who knows what that woman's capable of.

"JJ this is my mother. Mother this is JJ, my fiancé." I say introducing the two. The ambassador just standing there with her mouth hanging open. In total shock.

"Would you pick your damn jaw off the floor and something please." I say annoyed.

"No this is unacceptable. You are disgusting. You are committing a sin against god. What were you thinking? And you!" She scoffs looking at JJ. "You disgust me. Your parents must be so disappointed. You ruined my daughter. Emily you're bringing shame to this family name. You will not be marrying a woman. End of story." She screams at the top of her lungs.

I quickly cover JJ's ears trying to protect her from what my mother is saying. JJ's eyes were brimming with tears but I just held her close to me. Her face was buried in my shoulder so she didn't have to face my mother.

"You know what? I do not give a damn about what you have to say about my life choices. I don't care if you don't like it or you're ashamed of me because that's not my problem. I am proud of who I am and I am proud of my fiancé. You can bully me as much as you want I can take it. But you will not speak to JJ that way. I'm not 16 anymore you don't get to control what I do. I am marrying JJ and that's final. Wether you like it or not. Now stop disrespecting my fiancé and me and get the fuck out of my apartment." I shout at her.

"Who taught you it was okay to talk to your mother like that?" She scoffs. "Look you get out of my apartment until you are ready to actually apologize to JJ and me. Now leave before I call the cops." I say opening the door.

She rolls her eyes and walks out. I lock the door behind her. I try to stop myself from crying. Why does my mother have to be like this?

I walk over to JJ who is softly crying. I walk over to the couch and sit down next to her. "Don't listen to her she had no idea what she's talking about." I say quietly pulling her into a hug.

"It's still early let's just try and go back to sleep okay?" I say laying down. JJ lays next to me on the couch and falls asleep again. I try to fall asleep but I can't. I can't stop hearing my mothers words ringing around in my head.

I wake up a few hours later alone on the couch. I get up and walk into the kitchen to see JJ making coffee. "Hey. Good morning." I said.

"Hi." She said with a smile walking over to hug me. "JJ I need you to listen to me okay?" I ask her. She nods.

"Don't listen to what my mother said. She's insane. I don't care what she things and I'm marrying you no matter what she has to say about it." I say with a smile. I lean down to kiss her. "I love you." She says. "I love you too JJ."
